Historia
The green and gold of France during a hot August is poignantly remembered by Cecil, the middle sister of a family of English children on holiday in the champagne country of the Marne. The sudden illness of their mother means the children are left to deal as best they can with the hostile, mysterious, but entrancing world of the Hotel des Oeillets.

Engaging Story
Revisado: 09-24-10
I really enjoyed listening to this "coming of age" type story. It's for adults, not for children. The writing draws you into the story from the very beginning. The narration truly makes this story. There is a fair amount of French in the story and the narrator's excellent pronunciation of the French, along with her talent at creating different voices, transported me to the scene of this story, a hotel in France. I enjoyed every minute.

Historia
For many of us, our schedules are chaotic and overcommitted. Here, Susanka shows us that it is possible to take our finger off the fast-forward button. She reveals that form and function serve not only architectural aims but life goals as well. We quickly discover that we have all the space and time we need for the things in our lives that really matter. But perhaps the greatest reward is the discovery that small changes can yield enormous results.

Interesting but...
Revisado: 01-24-10
I did listen to this entire book and it held my interest throughout. However, at the end I had to ask myself, what did I get out of this? Near the end the author states, "If you've heard anything from this book, it's you listening to you." Someone else described the book as "very New-Agey." I agree.

Historia
Can we really learn to be happy? Yes, we can. Each semester, nearly 1,400 students sign up for Harvard professor Tal Ben-Shahar's life-changing class, "How to Get Happy". Currently it's the hottest course at Harvard, taken by 20 percent of its graduates. In Happier, Professor Ben-Shahar brings the ideas of the Ivory Tower to Main Street, distilling the lessons and exercises from his course into a slim volume of practical wisdom.

Packed with Information
Revisado: 01-21-10
This book was jam packed with information and would probably be best read instead of listened to. It was full of ideas and quizzes that need to be absorbed and seen or written down. If you are primarily an auditory learner, it would be fine.

It seems we're all growing more negative. Bad news on the TV and in the papers makes us all feel fed up and we find it easier to talk about what's wrong instead of looking for what's good. But imagine knowing a simple trick that you could use to help you feel better about everything. That simple trick does exist, and it's time to learn how to "Flip It".

Great Pep Talk
Revisado: 01-20-10
I admit, I ordered this book not only for content, but because I love the author/narrator's accent. The book was encouraging, and gives many ideas for changing our perception of any situation and keeping a positive outlook on life. If you need a pep talk, this is a great book.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

To each his own
Revisado: 11-16-09
I have no idea why this novel is so highly rated. It's boring, the sex scenes seem to be mere filler, the sadist scenes are too much, and the heroine is unlikeable. Don't waste your time with this one.
