I think they forgot the last chapter?

There is no way this was supposed to be the ending of the book. I’m so confused. There must be another chapter floating around the internet somewhere. Great book, with no ending (not a good ending, not bad ending, just no ending). Infuriating.

Slow to start

A little slow to start, but then it gets going and doesn’t stop. I really enjoyed the second half of the book, and the last 2 minutes were so unexpected my jaw literally dropped.

Harlan?

I love Harlan Coben! I’m not sure he wrote this book. I want to help future readers with this review, but I don’t know how to express my feelings about this book. The story was mediocre at best, the characters weren’t that interesting, the dialogue drags. I would recommend anything by Harlan Coben... besides this one.

I have never heard of this book or movie, but it was so highly rated, I decided to give it a try. It was almost impossible for me to get “into” the book. About halfway through it became interesting... for about one chapter. Then I lost interest again. Maybe I’m just not the right audience (young female who isn’t outdoorsy). Who knows. If you’re on the fence, read a good summary before you buy.

Decent story, Awful narrator

The story was decent. Not captivating, but also not terrible. I didn’t connect to any characters and I think there were too many filler characters/scenes that didn’t add to the storyline at all. It was like the author had a cool idea for a short story (and it would have been a good short story), but his publisher told him he needed to make it a full book, instead.
I have no idea why the author or his publisher thought this narrator was a good choice. She was so hard to listen to, and her different “character voices” were almost comical at times.

Different, but not in a bad way

I’m a huge Liane Moriarty fan, and after listening to this book, I have now listened to all her books (on Audible). This one was very different from the others. Some aspects of it were a little strange (I don’t want to say specifics, because it would spoil part of the story), however I still really enjoyed the story and I loved the characters.

Not Anything Special

I felt completely neutral about this book. It wasn’t a great story, but wasn’t terrible. I didn’t find myself lost in it, but I didn’t feel the need to return it to Audible. It just was mediocre.
The narration was fine, except when Kathleen Early read any “wh” word (who, what, why, where, when), she did that annoying HWH sound at the beginning of the word. I can’t stand when people do that, and every time I heard it I cursed Early under my breath.
I would advise you to save your credit for another book.

A swing and a miss from a favorite author

Lisa Gardner missed the mark with this one. It was boring, the characters were super unlikeable, with few redeeming qualities, and there was some unnecessary random paranormal activity thrown in for some reason. Lisa Gardner has written some captivating novels, but this wasn’t one of them.

I haven’t liked a book this much since Gone Girl. I was fascinated and horrified and shocked with each page of this book. You won’t regret using a credit on this one.

Great story

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The narrator was a little hard to listen to when she did certain accents, but overall was good. The story unfolded in a crafty way, and had me guessing how everything was going to turn out.
