Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Not as robust as most of his novels
Revisado: 11-01-24
This novel is not what I come to expect. It tracks 2 cases, and one is the Black Dahlia. That part was a definite reach. And the other case related to a domestic terrorism situation lacked much foundation. To me, this is probably my least favorite Michael Connelly novel so far.

Historia
William Henry Devereaux, Jr., spiritually suited to playing left field but forced by a bad hamstring to try first base, is the unlikely chairman of the English department at West Central Pennsylvania University. Over the course of a single convoluted week, he threatens to execute a duck, has his nose slashed by a feminist poet, discovers that his secretary writes better fiction than he does, suspects his wife of having an affair with his dean, and finally confronts his philandering elderly father, the one-time king of American Literary Theory, at an abandoned amusement park.

Witty as Hell...Love it
Revisado: 09-13-18
Told definitely from a man's sense of humor, this is one witty tale. Sam Freed's performance and timing are spot on. Best credit I've spent in a while. Any guy, say 35 and up with children, relationships and dullards for co-workers will completely relate to the story and observations.

Historia
When Margaret's fiancé, John, is hospitalized for depression in 1960s London, she faces a choice: carry on with their plans despite what she now knows of his condition, or back away from the suffering it may bring her. She decides to marry him. Imagine Me Gone is the unforgettable story of what unfolds from this act of love and faith. At the heart of it is their eldest son, Michael, a brilliant, anxious music fanatic who makes sense of the world through parody.

Beautiful writing and narration
Revisado: 08-06-18
It is no surprise to me this book was a contender for many awards. The writing is fantastic and the story so real and so well told. Many people who have loved ones that struggle with depression will find the story painfully on point.

Okay, I guess the author tried to build suspense and have a twist...in the epilogue, but really, this was just okay for me.

So Well Written, So Well Narrated
Revisado: 09-15-14
I'm an unabashed fan of all the Department Q series of books and this one is another winner. The story is perfectly told from several perspectives and Graeme's narration is wonderful.
Rose and Assad have to be the most hilarious assistants in all of the thrillers I've read/listened to in a long time.
You can pick up and listen to really any of these books in any order and fully enjoy them. If you love Jo Nesbo, you'll also love this series.

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Hilarious....Forest Gump Multiplied by 1000!
Revisado: 08-21-14
Outstanding performance by Steven Crossley of this utterly charming story. I compare it to Forest Gump in that the protagonist Allan Karlsson, turning 100 years old, escapes the nursing home and starts an incredible adventure. Throughout the telling, there are flash backs to Allan's life and his unlikely encounters with world leaders like Mao, Stalin, Truman and more.
If you love to laugh, this audiobook is a sure bet.

Historia
The Profiler's Daughter is a psychologically haunting thriller that combines murder mystery, love triangle, and family intrigue in one satisfying page burner. Sky Stone was born into the wealth and privilege of Boston's oldest Brahmin family but chooses instead to follow in the footsteps of her deceased father, legendary FBI profiler Monk Stone. In the chilly morning hours before the Boston Marathon, when a beautiful university student is found strangled and mutilated, her body left at the base of Heartbreak Hill, Sky returns from self-imposed exile to investigate.

Yawn...I want that 19 hours back
Revisado: 04-29-14
I got the kindle version of this book for free from the Kindle First program and the audible version for a very small cost....thank goodness...in this case, you get what you pay for. This book was so slow, predictable and bland. There is maybe 5 minutes of suspense in the whole 19 hours. My recommendation...move on, nothing to see here. Get a Jussi Adler-Olsen or a Jo Nesbo title instead and you'll be far happier.

Historia
Liam Mulligan is as old school as a newspaper man gets. His beat is Providence, Rhode Island, and he knows every street and alley. He knows the priests and prostitutes, the cops and street thugs. He knows the mobsters and politicians--who are pretty much one and the same. Someone is systematically burning down the neighborhood Mulligan grew up in, people he knows and loves are perishing in the flames, and the public is on the verge of panic.

Witty and Fast Paced
Revisado: 04-04-14
Here's a case where the audiobook format truly enhances the written word. Jeff Woodman delivers the narrative with the New England tone, cadence and humor that makes this a wonderful book to enjoy. Of course, the actual brilliance comes from the hand of the author Bruce DeSilva.
I'm hooked and going directly to use my credit for Cliff Walk!

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

A Deep and Rich Story
Revisado: 11-21-13
What can you say about a 32 hour book? First I'll say, I've listened to 12 hour books I thought would never end! This 32 hours went by in a flash. I was constantly interested and entertained. I won't re-hash the story line, I will only say the writing and pacing and character development are wonderful.
This is destined to be on everyone's best fiction of 2013 list for sure. Pulitzer prize quality writing in my opinion. Not since 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk' have I been so taken in by a book.
Just get this book...you will love it!

Will Patton delivers a great performance of superb writing. James Lee Burke is wonderful at describing New Orleans, Cajun culture, the attitudes and the ways of a cop in a very tough and corrupt town and state.
Dave Robicheaux is a fantastic protagonist and you cheer for him as he navigates this world of reprobates and hustlers. You'll want to read all the books!
