It ended so close to it's peak
Revisado: 03-10-23
I was really getting into the story and then it ended! To my surprise this book didn't have the characters from the last. I wonder if each book is a new set of characters. These two are prequals to the first book The Ruin. That's next on my list hoping it keeps the momentum of the two I've read so far.

I would say it's 85% Build Up
Revisado: 03-10-23
It's a decent story, I would say 85% of the book was just build up and then it ended. I might just be set in the way of reading longer books but I do have the next three books in the series. I would like to imagine the next case will be exciting.

The end caught me off guard!
Revisado: 03-09-23
I don't know how I didn't see the end coming, this book did a great job or making you focus your attention away from the twist. If you like a get to the point story this is a great short read. I wanted it to be a little longer but realized I had a few other books from the author and didn't feel bad finishing this one so quick. I would recommend!

This was entertaining but I didn't get that eager feeling to finish it, like the first book gave me. I did enjoy that I couldn't guess the outcome early on in the book & it gave some closure. If you're looking for a book to pass some time or just a little mystery I would recommend it.

A good listen
Revisado: 02-21-23
I purchased this book from an Audible 2-for-1 sale and it did not disappoint. I took a glance at the summary and figured it would be an interesting book. The main character Nina Winchester who came off to me as someone really down on her luck was just looking for a job to get on her feet. She did an interview for a job that she thought she wouldn't get but was surprised when she received a call back being offered the position. What Nina didn't know was that she was in for a rollercoaster of emotions that came with the job. This book will also include you on that rollercoaster ride of emotions. I found myself feeling sorry, uneasy, angry, and hopeful for the characters. I'll leave it at that to avoid spoilers. The reason I give it 4/5? The book wasn't too long, it didn't seem to drag, and I like the accent of the main character, but it did start to become predictable halfway through the story.

There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

Bill the Legendary Freewill
Revisado: 03-16-20
Goddamned Freaky Monsters written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. I believe this book is where the story is starting to peak, I finished the book and I usually write the review right after, but I wanted to listen to the next book more than anything. In this book we find out what Bill brought back with him during his escape. The Destroyer is an ancient warrior and he’s out for blood! How will Bill and friends live through this?
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? This book was a transition book I have a feeling the next book will probably be the peak of the story or the book after. Being in Switzerland with the Dracula’s was cool to hear about, I think Alexanders room with the heads was interesting. Imagine a telling of how each of those heads were captured in order to add to his collection. Bill was in his evil form for about three months, I wonder if when he taps into it in the future will he be able to hold it for long periods of time unlike his blood power ups.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? Evil Bill taking a break, after all he’s been through and things to come why take a break? I still think that it’s strange to be in the fifth book and Bill still isn’t really any stronger from the first and second book. The villains are getting stronger, but Bill & friends are just lucky. I like the narrator for Bill buts I don’t understand how so many pronunciation errors made it through the finished product.
This is the fifth book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’m really enjoying the so far, I kind of don’t want it to come to an end. I must admit this book didn’t seem like it was rushed like the last. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue on with books 6-8.
Half a Prayer written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. Things are getting crazy in this book, new rivals for the vampires, the Destroyer, & who knows what else is in store for Bill and friends. We’re starting to learn more about Sally she’s really being developed, and I can’t imagine the story without her at this point. I thought the last book was action packed but this one takes the cake I can only imagine it getting better in the next two books.
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? Gan is back! She’s easily becoming one of my favorite characters. James on the battlefield was awesome, he’s another one of my favorites and it’s about time we got some good action with him. This is probably the first time the Dracula’s was in action and they live up to their name I just wish we got a little more detail of them fighting since it took six books to get action out of them. That kiss near the end I’ve been waiting for that since they because close friends. I know he have another love interest, but I just don’t like them for each other.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? I can’t say there was anything that I didn’t enjoy about this book. I’m happy for the Trio Bill, Tom, & Ed but at the same time I feel like the only relationship that I’m satisfied with is Tom’s. I think Sally & Bill should be together as well as Sheila and Ed they just seem more compatible to me.
This is the sixth book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’ll say it once again this series is really taking off near the end and I can’t wait to get into the next book. The characters are being developed well except Bill but I feel like he will get where he needs to be. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue with books 7-8.
The Wicked Dead written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. This time around Bill and friends are put to the task of taking care of the Destroyer! Bill has to settle things with Evil Bill before facing the Destroyer. Sally was compelled by none other than Alexander the Great to forget Bill & his friends & Christie found out something that could have made her not want to be involved with Bill and friends. Once again we’re in a place sitting at the edge of our seats trying to figure out how they are going to succeed.
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? Bill is really stepping up to me, he faced his evil self, he faced the destroyer, and he actually made the decision to give up his life to save others (When I say give up his life, this isn’t a spoiler just a few times he was willing to do so). We got a full fight scene with Evil Bill to actually gauge his true strength. Gan is legendary in my book, she always comes in right when she’s needed. I was in disbelief when Alex was compelled that caught me off guard. With all the build up of him being the strongest person in the book the ending really surprised me.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? Bill and Sally, after all these books I don’t think it was fair for Evil Bill to knock Bill out after he fought Turd. I feel like quite a few cans of conflict were opened in this book and I don’t think one more book will wrap the story up well but I could be wrong since the next book is a little over eighteen hours long. I still don’t really understand why they want Ed so bad, I get his an anomaly but what’s his purpose, I feel like Ed is more important that Sheila at this point. Bill is also getting kind of dark or numb it’s out of character for him, he kind of just shrugged the dudes he brought along to help after lying to them about what was going on.
This is the seventh book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, between the banter, action, conflict, and mystery I must say I can’t wait to listen to the last book. The reveal of the actual first really caught me off guard at the end of this book. Bill actually seemed a little more mature in this book as he’s realizing how serious things really are. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue with book 8.
The Last Coven written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. You know the villain must be something terrible when she’s the main concern over Alexander the Great! There is trouble coming from every direction in this book. Ed is missing, Tom is having a weird issue with his body, Sally just got back to reality, Gan is Gan, & Sheila and Bill must fulfill the prophecy. Bill the legendary freewill came to an agreement with his dark side and it’s time to put that power to the test. Sad to say it’s the end of this saga but it will go out with a bang.
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? I really enjoyed the action in this book, we got to witness all the top dogs going all out. I finally got what I was waiting on Bill coming to an agreement with his dark side. Gan really lived up to who she made herself out to be, the adopted daughter of a conqueror. Bill came a long way from the first book, he’s really matured, and I couldn’t see this story being made with anyone other that Bill Ryder.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? I think this book was rushed because a lot of things just happened without much reason. I personally didn’t enjoy the ending, sure some of it I was happy to hear but it couldn’t have been better. For such a powerful villain I feel like The White Mother/IB was just killed too easily to be the original. I feel like it was the same amount of effort put into killing the Destroyer. I’m sorry for this spoiler but how does it go from book 7 Sally having strong feeling for Bill while they were trying to break her out of being compelled, Sally having sex with evil Bill after beating Turd, to the end Sally saying I think I’m going to get with Ed now. I really expected her and Bill to end up together after all of the build up between them.
This is the final book in the Tome of Bill series written by Rick Gualtieri. I thoroughly enjoyed the series; I believe it took me two weeks to complete all eight books. The narrator did a really good job can’t imagine Bill having another voice actor. My only gripe with the narrator was the way he pronounced a few things. I fell as though the books weren’t listened to before they finished the project. I purchased the books via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I would definitely recommend them.

Bill the funny vampire
Revisado: 03-06-20
Bill the Vampire written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. This book started off with Bill Ryder telling us how he died. A little back story about Bill, he’s a nerd that spends most of his time gaming and he works as a programmer for a video game company. He lives in an apartment with his two best friends who also work for the same company that Bill works for. One day Bill takes a trip to the mall to buy some D&D pieces. That’s where he runs into Sally. Sally happens to be the girl who ended up getting Bill killed and turned into a vampire.
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? I could relate to some of the characters. I’m a gamer, I spend quite a bit of time playing games on my PC during weekends, & my close friends are also gamers. I think this book has a lot of comedy I laughed quite a bit while listening. I enjoy a bit of sarcasm and being witty when it comes to real life and books. I liked that it’s a vampire book discrediting other vampire stories.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? The main character and all his friends could pretty much pass as the same person. Here are the only differences I could narrow down. Bill seems to be the wittier of the bunch, Ed seems like a logical person and isn’t easily surprised, and Tom has OCD. Bill said the world B****h more times than anyone could keep count. I feel like he said it in almost every encounter with Sally. The story takes some time to get going but I didn’t lose interest.
This is the first book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’m queuing up the next book right now and I really hope it’s not as much like the first. The first book I felt tried to lure you in with comedy and Bill being witty. It wouldn’t do the series justice to make every book like that. Christopher John Fetherolf did a great job with voices and he nails sounding like a nerd. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I will write these reviews as I hit the check point for each new book.
Scary Dead Things written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. This book picks up from where Bill Ryder left off being the new leader. This time around Sally sends Bill to meet with James in China. This is where Bill meets Gan the daughter of James’s sire & Bill gets put to the test to show them what a free will can do. Little did Bill know, things got a little crazy and James rushed Bill out of dodge, & Gan fell for Bill and followed him back to America, but Gan’s father wasn’t happy about it and put a hit out on Bill. Will Bill come into his powers quick enough to stay alive?
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? The booked seemed to have started right where the last left off without not much of a gap in the story. Bill & Sally’s friendship is starting to grow on me as they develop. I was excited about Bill’s scary form; I wish he didn’t black out so that we could get more action out of it. I appreciated the reference to wizards with names beginning with the letter h like Harry Potter, Harry Dresden, & Harry Houdini.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? I’m not crazy about mispronunciation but there are quite a few that really stand out. The teaser of Bill’s form seems very minimal, for something that can fend off legendary guards on the level of James, should have been shown off a little more. I’ve been recommending this book and I can imagine it’s tough for women to read this book. If Bill isn’t calling Sally a B***h he’s talking about something on a female’s body. It’s okay to use those jokes here and there but I think it’s a little too frequent. Bill still seems pretty week for being a rare vampire hopefully he does so type of training to harness his powers I just can’t imagine him having to wait to get older to become stronger.
This is the second book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’m queuing up the next book right now and I hope it rolls into the next story like it happened in this book. The first book I felt tried to lure you in with comedy and Bill being witty. This book they introduce a few new characters and vampire rivals to get us hooked onto the story. The characters are starting to grow on me, I think James must be my favorite character so far. It would be awesome to do a James spin off showing how he got to where he is now. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I will write these reviews as I hit the check point for each new book.
The Mourning Woods written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. This book picks up from where Bill Ryder left off almost having to marry Gan. This time around Bill must try and smooth things over for what happened to Gan’s father. Why they would pick Bill to smooth things out? The world might never know but as usual things take a turn Bill now seems to be on the bad side of James’s equal and the leader of the Big Foot Monsters. Bill runs into this strange person by the name of Alex and he’s also trying to help Bill on his trip to Canada.
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? I feel happy for Bill getting enough courage to ask Sheila out for coffee. I enjoyed the twist of trying to figure out who was behind things over in Canada. Dark side of Bill was shown again, and he was awake for some of it, I’m really getting interested in this transformation. I hope Bill will be able to master it sooner than later. I was surprised when I found out who Alex really was, that made a lot of sense because I was confused about who gave Bill that boost.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? It really seems as though Bill isn’t getting any stronger. Yes, his ability to use someone else blood for power is cool but he’s not always going to have a strong vamp to give him blood and he’s going to have trouble biting a vamp stronger than him in the future. To be honest he’s too reliant on Sally, I feel like if she was taken out of the picture, he would be useless. I thought the back and forward between Bill and Sally was going to slow down but it’s just as common as the first book. Things are starting to get serious so should Bill.
This is the third book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I’m queuing up the next book right now. I’m really liking how the books roll right into each other without huge time gaps in between. I wonder if Gan is going to have a strong presence in the up and coming books because after how this one ended it’s clear she’s not going to give up on Bill. The Alex reveal and promotion of James was a nice addition to the story. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I will write these reviews as I hit the check point for each new book.
Holier Than Thou written by Rick Gualtieri & narrated by Christopher John Fetherolf. Things just continue to get worse for Bill. The lady he’s in love with is lethal to Bill and all his kind. On top of that Bill must get ready for war after the situation he got into with Gan’s protection. How is Sally & friends going to help Bill prevail this time? Will the prophecies be fulfilled?
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? This book had a lot of action coming at Bill from all directions. Gan is back, I really enjoy her as a character. She lives up to her age even though she’s in the body of a teenager. I wasn’t expecting Sheila to be at this skill level in one month. Bill’s transformation really brings excitement out for me we finally got more of it in this book.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? It appears all the characters are growing except Bill. His friends are both maturing and playing more important roles. Sheila just became one of the strongest characters in the story in one month as to where it’s been a year and all I think Bill learned how to do is take a few more punches without dying. Sally is Sally she always been the brains of the operation. The ending didn’t feel like an ending, it felt like the book was just stopped three quarters into the story.
This is the fourth book I’ve listened to from Rick Gualtieri. I went ahead and purchased the bundle with the remaining four books in the series. I really enjoyed all the action in this book, the story had great build up, but the ending was too sudden to the point it didn’t feel complete. I still have full interest in the series. I’ll say it once again I really hope Bill learns how to use that transformation soon otherwise it’s going to get old him somehow getting hold of some other vamps’ blood to win a fight. I purchased book 1-4 via a bundle I have enjoyed reviewing these books I will continue on with books 5-8.

As a young man, Dunlavey had a hunger for forbidden knowledge. He sought out occult practices and dark, archaic rituals all over the world. Dunlavey's thirst for arcane wisdom sent him to New Orleans. He met and fell in love with Myra, a voodoo priestess. Myra preformed a sex magic ritual with Dunlavey. This ritual allowed him to open his mind's eye, his third eye, and see the dimensional rifts that lie between our world and other places.

Poor Dunlavey
Revisado: 03-01-20
Dead Aware written by Terry M. West & narrated by Gene Blake. In this tale we learn about Dunlavey's inner or third eye which I believe has been left open after Donlavey let Myra use a sex ritual on him. Dunlavey is a PI that assist the NYPD with all the out of the ordinary cases. Dunlavey isn’t the ordinary PI he’s a PI that takes drugs, drinks more than he should, and has a love interest with a dominatrix. Dunlavey is called on to investigate a series of murders, eventually Dunlavey find out that the killer is a being that can strike at him through his visions.
What are some things that I’ve enjoyed about this book? I liked Dunlavey as a character, he didn’t seem like your regular authority figures. He did things like hook up with Myra and her friend, down cups of liquor while already feeling drunk, and did drugs but he still prioritized his case. The ending caught me by surprise when I found out who the villain was. It kept me guessing for majority of the book who the killer was going to be. I kind of felt bad for Dunlavey at the end of the book but it didn’t leave you feeling bad for him, he had hope in the end.
What are some things that I didn’t enjoy about this book? The style the book was read in resembled a movie script. I do understand that the author is an actual filmmaker but I’m sure a few folks would have preferred it just being told as a story from the perspective of the main character and a few others. The narrator tried doing all the voices but when you’re trying to imagine what’s being read to you, it’s tough imaging the pretty lady being described by Dunlavey being narrated by that same raspy voice that’s narrating Dunlavey. The story was also a little hard to follow, more than likely because it was written like a script. Movies usually shorten content to stay within a time limit, but I don’t think this is necessary with books.
This is the first book I’ve listened to from Terry M. West. I would listen to another he tells a good story I just didn’t enjoy the way it was told in this book. I enjoyed Gene Blake performance of Dunlavey I can see why he was picked for the character. I must admit that I googled to see if this was an actual movie or TV show after listening to the book. I received this book via promo and that had no influence on my review of this book.

Poor Heather
Revisado: 02-26-20
Missing… and Presumed Dead writen by Michael Fleeman & narrated by Kelly Ryan Wilmoth. This book tells the story of 20-year-old Heather Elvis going missing. I must admit after listening to this book I googled the case and couldn’t believe I never heard about it. The narrator did an okay job and the book was spot on with the articles I came across during my google search. For the most part I felt like I was listening to a documentary. This book hit me as an eye opener, it made me feel like calling to check on my relatives. I can’t imagine what the Elvis family went through and I hope one day they find peace. I received this book via promo and that has no influence on my review of this book.
