A disastrous debate, a would-be assassin’s bullet, an electrifying eleventh hour candidate swap, dramatic and surprising VP selections, betrayals behind closed doors, charges of a stolen election, game-changing blunders—the history-making 2024 presidential election is a political saga of Shakespearean proportions. In minute-by-minute detail, esteemed White House historian and political analyst Chris Whipple chronicles the unprecedented drama as it unfolds.

The story of nursing is complicated. It is woven into war, plague, religion, the economy, and our individual lives in myriad ways. In Taking Care, journalist Sarah DiGregorio chronicles the lives of nurses past and tells the stories of those today—caregivers at the vital intersection of health care and community who are actively changing the world, often invisibly.

Master class story of my profession
Revisado: 07-05-25
I’ve been a registered nurse for 35 years. This book does a fantastic job doing a deep dive into the history of Nursing that goes way beyond Florence Nightingale. It also does a good job of dissecting what was good and what was bad about the woman who sometimes gets too much credit for being the inventor of modern nursing. I felt that the different areas that we work with the Nursing are very well covered in this book. I strongly recommended to anybody.

Historia
On September 5, 1972, eight Palestinian terrorists belonging to the Black September faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) entered the Olympic Village in Munich, West Germany, and took 11 Israeli athletes and team members hostage. After a lengthy standoff and a bungled rescue operation, all 11 were killed. While today, Israel is one of the most divisive political subjects across the world, the Munich Massacre and the Israeli operations in response all came about entirely because of the emotional power inherent in the Israeli-Arab conflict.

A concise history of the Munich massacre
Revisado: 06-25-25
I was almost 12 years old at the time of the black September attack on the Israeli athletes at the 1972 Summer Olympics. I still remember it like it was yesterday. This is a very concise history of the events that led up to, the actual events and the retribution by the Israeli’s against the surviving members of Black September.

Historia
On August 5, 1942, giant pillars of dust rose over the Russian steppe, marking the advance of the 6th Army, an elite German combat unit dispatched by Hitler to capture the industrial city of Stalingrad and press on to the oil fields of Azerbaijan. The Germans were supremely confident; in three years, they had not suffered a single defeat. The Luftwaffe had already bombed the city into ruins. German soldiers hoped to complete their mission and be home in time for Christmas.

Historia
Award-winning author Mark Kurlansky presents an insider's view of Havana: the elegant, tattered city he has come to know over more than 30 years. Part cultural history, part travelogue, with recipes throughout, Havana celebrates the city's singular music, literature, baseball and food; its five centuries of outstanding neglected architecture; and its extraordinary blend of cultures.

Mark Kurlansky is just an excellent writer. I’ve enjoyed some of his other books through Audible as well. This book, dealing with the history of the culture of the city of Havana, Cuba was an interesting and a fun book to listen to I thought the narrator of this book did a really good job on the Spanish word pronunciations as well as overall doing a good job of narration

Historia
When Thomas Jefferson became president in 1801, America faced a crisis. The new nation was deeply in debt and needed its economy to grow quickly, but its merchant ships were under attack. Pirates from North Africa's Barbary coast routinely captured American sailors and held them as slaves, demanding ransom and tribute payments far beyond what the new country could afford.

Historia
From 1914 to 1916, Ernest Shackleton and his men survived the wreck of their ship Endurance, crushed in the Antarctic ice, stranded 1,200 miles from civilization with no means of communication and no hope for rescue. When the ice began to break up, Shackleton set out to save them all on his heroic 800-mile-trip across the frigid South Atlantic, in little more than a rowboat.

Learn leadership from the very best
Revisado: 06-05-25
I have read several books on Sir Ernest Shackleton, and the ill-fated expedition of the endurance. This book does a nice deep dive and dissecting Shackleton‘s management of leadership style. I think there is a lot here for anybody who is in a position of leadership, but also for parents and for people who want to have a positive and better work environment and be able to overcome challenges. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
A decade ago Special Forces warrior Jason Morgan parachuted into the Central American jungle on an anti-narcotics raid. He'd served with the famous Night Stalkers on countless such missions. This one turned out very different. Months later he regained consciousness in a US military hospital, with no memory of how he'd gotten there. The first words he heard were from his surgeon, telling him he would never walk again. The determined soldier responded, "Sir, yes, I will."

This is a book that touched me on several different levels. I’m an Air Force veteran, I’m a nurse and a former Air Force medic. I’ve also done puppy raising for Mobility Service Dogs. This is a fantastic story of the journey of a wounded warrior and the difference that his service dog made in his life. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent book for the serious rugby fan
Revisado: 05-07-25
I’ve been to every rugby World Cup since 2007. This book is a very thorough history of not just the rugby, World Cup, but also the beginnings of the sport. It goes all the way up to the rugby, World Cup in Japan in 2019. The narrator does an absolute master class job of not just narrating, but getting accents as diverse as Irish, Scottish, New Zealand, Australian, English and South African. As a serious rugby fan, I highly recommend this book.
