Historia
America’s backstory is a whitewashed mythology implanted in our collective memory. It should come as no surprise that the dominant narrative of American history is blighted with errors and oversights—after all, history books were written by white men with their perspectives at the forefront. It could even be said that the devaluation and erasure of the Black experience is as American as apple pie. In Black AF History, Michael Harriot presents a more accurate version of American history.

Relatable on so many levels
Revisado: 06-16-24
This should be mandatory reading for every middle through high school student. Loved the current venacular in which the information is shared. This alone will make it so much more relatable to young readers

Until Black lives truly matter
Revisado: 04-30-21
A heartbreaking reminder of the struggle of Black women to hold up the sky while nurturing the secrets and pain that hold ourselves, and the Black family together. Very little has changed in America since the setting of this work. The struggle continues to assure ourselves, and the world that Black lives, every one of them, matters.

Exhilarating!
Revisado: 09-07-20
Loved it! These characters were reminiscent of a trip down home; a peak behind the curtains at the "grown folks talk" that moved aunties and parents to shoo you outside and into the country heat. This book truly takes you on a journey of the heart, soul, and mind!

Wash. Rinse. Repeat
Revisado: 09-02-20
Good story concept. Reminiscent of The Black Panther movie, however, this book's plot, chapter after chapter was way too repetitive. Unnecessarily lengthy. Had to force myself to finish it, but its ending left a tantilizing opening for a Book 3.
