1/2 story, 1/2 Sub-Dom Erotica.
Revisado: 03-23-25
1/2 story, 1/2 Sub-Dom Erotica. If that's what you are looking for, great book. well written and performed.
I was looking for a good a good story or tale. This was too sex focused for me. An occasional well placed sex scen is fine, can be great... but this book just didn't have enough story line and overdid the sex for what I was looking for.

Writing good, story bad.
Revisado: 03-04-25
idk if it's because I am older or because Koontz is... but I find his later works pretty bad. Because I was once a diehard fan, I keep trying with each new release despite disappointment. However I, have been disappointed from somewhere around the time Brother Odd 2 was published and everything thereafter.
I actually feel guilty writing this, but I rely on reviews here so I must return that favor with honesty.

Page turner
Revisado: 09-06-24
I typically figre out a book, story or movie in the first fifteen minutes and then just hope to atleast enjoy the telling of the story. Not in this case, I did not even have a hypothesis until atleast half way through the book and i wa wrong! Loved it, great page turner.

Historia
Lila Bruce Breedlove never quite felt at home in Wesleyan, Georgia, especially after her father’s untimely demise when she was a child. Both Lila and her brother, Henry, fled north after high school, establishing fulfilling lives of their own. In contrast, their younger sister, Abigail, opted to remain behind to dote on their domineering, larger-than-life mother, Geneva. When their elderly mother dies suddenly and suspiciously in the muscadine arbor behind the family estate, Lila and Henry return to the town that essentially raised them.

I really really tried!
Revisado: 09-06-22
The book:
I listened to at least 3/4 of this book. Usually, that far in I will suck it up till the end even if not entertain just for the closure. Not so with this book as I walked away easily. The story could have been told in a page. Stretching it out did not make it more interesting. Maybe in another day and time when this story was not so commonplace or not so shocking, then It might have been a cliffhanger. For me, it was mundane.
The reader:
Wow she was tough for me. She is very clear and understandable, no worries there. However, her voice sounds like a woman trying to put forth a husky sexy voice. For me it was like scratching a chalkboard after two paragraphs.

Historia
Toymaker Isaac Bodkins created the Oddkins, a group of living toys, for very special children who face difficulties in life and need true friends. There's Amos, the brave stuffed bear; Skippy, the rabbit who dreams of being a superstar; Butterscotch, the gentle, floppy-eared pup; Burl the elephant; the wise and scholarly Gibbons; and Patch the cat. The Oddkins are given to children to inspire, support, and love them, especially during times of adversity. Only now, the toys themselves are the ones who need help.

Revisado: 05-04-21
On a quick glance I saw Oddkins, and Dean Koontz... I read no further and assumed it was an Odd Thomas short story. I grabbed it up excited. As soon as I pressed play I knew my mistake but tried to give it a chance anyway. I am really struggling here its a good verses evil toy doll war that is really hard for me to focus on or get into.
The reader is good though.

Historia
Rowan's attempt to escape Lasher and his pursuit of her and their child are at the heart of this extraordinary saga. It is a novel that moves around the globe, backward and forward through time, and between the human and demonic worlds. Its many voices - of women, of men, of demons and angels, present and past - haunt and enchant us. With a dreamlike power, the novel draws us through twilight paths, telling a chillingly hypnotic story of occult and spiritual aspirations and passion.

so disappointed
Revisado: 08-23-18
I am a lifetime lover of the vampire chronicles. But I suppose all good things must come to an end. I found this book excruciating to drone through. Usually I find it a waste of time put so much in to a book and not at least know the ending -- but in this case, I just didn't gaf, I simply couldn't handle another repetitive word and I never finished.

When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

I went into this book thinking (based on the subject) it may not be the read for my taste, but it was actually good. Enjoyed all the way through and was truly interested in the characters without judgement.

Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

An interesting twist
Revisado: 08-23-18
Here is a new spin on and old tale. The book reiterates much of what we know about the story of Achilles, adds some new stuff to the tale; and includes a love story between him and a boy he chose to be his companion when they were both kids.
I enjoyed the book and found it worth a credit.
