Narrator was really amateurish
Revisado: 04-21-24
I didn't enjoy the narrator's portrayal of the character. She made it hard to listen to the story.

By day, Florrie Fox manages Color Me Read bookstore in Georgetown, Washington D.C. By night, she creates her own intricately detailed coloring books for adults, filling the pages with objects that catch her eye. There's plenty of inspiration in her new apartment - a beautiful carriage house belonging to Professor John Maxwell, Florrie's boss. He offers the property to Florrie rent-free with one condition - she must move in immediately to prevent his covetous sister and nephew from trying to claim it. When the professor's nephew, Delbert, arrives, he proves just as sketchy as Florrie

The Narrator is hard to get past
Revisado: 01-28-24
I loved the Diva series from Krista and this story is good as well but the narrator is not good. She rushes the narration and most of the time it feels as if she is reading a script instead of telling a story. She is very stilted in her narration.

Eight Hours of Jumping to Conclusions
Revisado: 01-19-23
I can't stand a book where the main character is weak. She spent the whole book jumping to conclusions without any evidence or any real indications that something was not right. The best friend character was horrible as well and shouldn't be anyone's best friend. The author also has no idea of how someone who has made it onto a police force acts. Cops do not scream when they come across dead bodies, most cops think logically and don't jump to conclusions or ask the kind of questions asked in this book without some type of evidence to lead them to the conclusion. I spent the whole book annoyed with the main character instead of connecting to her.
The narrator did a good job. I don't want this sorry story to reflect badly on her.

Disappointing
Revisado: 07-26-22
This book should be listed under Religion. I didn't care for all the religious aspects of this book. It detracted from the story. The storyline was weak, to begin with. I managed to guess who did it halfway through the book. Plus the author should have done her homework on how real DEA Agents operate. The main character did some things that a DEA Agent never would have done ie: hanging her holster and badge in the hall closet, REALLY!!! SO Stupid.

Disappointing
Revisado: 01-22-22
I normally enjoy Jana DeLeon's books but this one was really disappointing. The book is 9 hours long, with the first hour setting up the story, about 30 minutes of action in the whole book and 7.5 hours of inane whiney dialogue. I got so tired of the main character recounting over and over again about what happened to her and how she can't trust any longer. This book should definitely not be in the Mystery/Thriller section because I knew almost from the beginning who the bad guy was so there was no mystery and it was not thrilling.

I just got used to the narration by Francis Fuller when it changed to Shannon McManus. She did an ok job but I liked Fuller's querks and she got so much better from the first book. The story was great, very exciting.

Historia
For Rose Gardner, working at the DMV on a Friday afternoon is bad even before she sees a vision of herself dead. She's had plenty of visions, usually boring ones like someone's toilet's overflowed, but she's never seen one of herself before. When her overbearing momma winds up murdered on her sofa instead, two things are certain: There isn't enough hydrogen peroxide in the state of Arkansas to get that stain out, and Rose is the prime suspect.

Overall it was a good story
Revisado: 10-02-18
It took me a while to get used to the Narrator. She rushes the lines and needs to take a breath in between sentences. But the story was good and I soon got used to the narrator and I think she slowed down a bit as the story went on.

Really, really fast
Revisado: 03-20-18
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The narrator could have, at least, paused between sentences and put a little more feeling in his voice. He was reading so fast I couldn't even distinguish one idea from another. After awhile his voice droned on and my mind tuned out. Terrible narrator.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I liked the speaking points but but I'm sure I missed some.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Anthony Pica?
Lorelei King is my favorite
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Summary of The War of Art by Steven Pressfield | Includes Key Takeaways & Analysis?
None that I know of. I just didn't understand everything because it was read so fast and with no change in tone or pauses between ideas.

The message is great, the narrator not so much
Revisado: 03-20-18
What did you like best about The Game of Life and How to Play It? What did you like least?
I loved the message. The power of positive thinking can change your life
What didn’t you like about Barry J. Peterson’s performance?
He didn't narrate the story with much feeling or nuance in his voice and sometimes he didn't even pause between ideas. He just ran one sentence into another.
Was The Game of Life and How to Play It worth the listening time?
Yes
