Historia
Before: Olivia knows she is lucky. She has a loving husband, Frank, an adorable son, Jake, and a beautiful new home. It couldn’t be more different from her childhood on the outskirts of Whitaker, dirt poor and dreaming of getting out. But at the end of long days with no one to talk to, always feeling like she’s not quite good enough, she starts to wonder if there’s a better life waiting.... After: Everyone in Whitaker knows who Olivia is. She’s the woman who left her family for no-good Dane Miller - and the one who most likely shot him.

Narration is so distracting.
Revisado: 04-14-20
I was switching back and forth from reading this book on my Kindle at home and then listening to it on Audlible in the car. Reading the book was enjoyable....listening to it on Audlible was not. I felt like it was being narrated by the voices of Peggy and Bobby from the cartoon King of the Hill. I gave up trying to listen to it on Audible after three attempts.

Historia
Molly and Liza have always been close in a way that people envy. Even after Molly married Daniel, both considered Liza an honorary member of their family. But after Liza moved away, things grew more strained than anyone wanted to admit - in the friendship and the marriage. When Daniel goes away on business, Molly and Liza plan to reconnect with a nice, long video chat over wine after the kids are in bed. But then Molly leaves the room to check on a crying child. What Liza sees next will change everything.

Not a fan of this narrator.
Revisado: 04-02-19
The story was really just okay. It started out very intriguing and then just really seemed to drag on for a very long time. The minute the narration started, I wished I had paid more attention to the name before I bought the audible narration. I had just completed another audible book read by the same narrator and though I am certain she must be very talented; I personally do not love the voices she uses for her characters and that ends up driving me crazy while trying to listen to the story. It's probably just me...but if there is a sample available, you might check it out before you commit.

The narrator kind of ruins the story.

Wonderful story....but read it in print if you want to make it past the first couple of chapters.

I gave up on this one...
Revisado: 12-22-17
I rarely ever give up on a book once I’m at least half way into it.
This one just lost me. It seemed to move very slowly and I just completely lost interest. I decided to read other reviews and when I read over and over how readers were frustrated and disappointed with the ending; I gave up and moved on to a new book.

Historia
The Bird children have an idyllic childhood: a picture-book cottage in a country village, a warm, cosy kitchen filled with love and laughter, sun-drenched afternoons in a rambling garden. But one Easter weekend a tragedy strikes the Bird family that is so devastating it tears them apart. Many years later something will call them home, back to the house they grew up in - and to what really happened that Easter weekend all those years ago.

Loved this book!
Revisado: 07-31-17
This story deals with some heavy and uncomfortable topics, but I loved it. I loved the depth of each of the characters. This is one of those novels that leaves you still thinking of the characters long after you read the last page.

A little too long and a little too predictable.
Revisado: 07-31-17
I really enjoy Lisa Jewell's novels, but this was seemed a little predictable and just seemed to drag on and on towards the end.
