Historia
In the snowbound city of Kiev, aspiring historian Mila Pavlichenko’s life revolves around her young son—until Hitler’s invasion of Russia changes everything. Suddenly, she and her friends must take up arms to save their country from the Führer’s destruction. Handed a rifle, Mila discovers a gift—and months of blood, sweat and tears turn the young woman into a deadly sniper: the most lethal hunter of Nazis. Yet success is bittersweet. Mila is torn from the battlefields of the Eastern Front and sent to America while the war still rages. There, she finds an unexpected ally.

What a lovely book. Was interesting listening to a novel of WWII from Russia’s side. Well researched, well read and my imagination was well stimulated in creating pictures in my mind’s eye.

Historia
An insatiable need for sex and love. Periods of overeating or starving. A pattern of unstable and painful relationships. Does this sound painfully familiar? Trauma counselor Kelly McDaniel has seen these traits over and over in clients who feel trapped in cycles of harmful behaviors - and are unable to stop. Many of us find ourselves stuck in unhealthy habits simply because we don't see a better way. With Mother Hunger, McDaniel helps women break the cycle of destructive behavior by taking a fresh look at childhood trauma and its lasting impact.

What I felt was real
Revisado: 12-04-24
At the start of this book I could immediately identify with feelings and perceptions I was always told that I am too sensitive etc. Fact is that my perception was spot on. Today in my adult life I am reliving some of those old experiences as my mother is aging now. This book offers many tools in dealing with these emotions I’m experiencing currently and helping me to let the memories go. And also to see the relationship between my mother and I from a more objective space. Absolutely worth the read.
