Historia
Today in the West, many consider the church to be dead or dying. Christianity is seen as outdated, bigoted, and responsible for many of society’s problems. This leaves many believers embarrassed about their faith and many outsiders wary of religion. But what if the Christian message is not the enemy of our modern Western values, but the very thing that makes sense of them? In this fascinating book, Glen Scrivener takes listeners on a journey to discover how the teachings of Jesus not only turned the ancient world upside down, but continue to underpin the way we think.

Historia
For centuries, scholars have speculated about a lost book of the Bible. No one has ever found it...until now. A few pieces of centuries-old parchment tucked inside a tattered book lead famed archaeologist Jonathan Weber and his wife Shannon to what could possibly be the greatest find in church history—a discarded biblical manuscript whose ancient pages reveal a secret that will change the way the world views Scripture. Is it one of fifty copies commissioned by Constantine the Great and lost for centuries?

I enjoyed it because...
Revisado: 07-01-22
... I'm interested in biblical archaeology and apologetics which features prominently in the story. Still, the story itself is not particularly gripping and feels pieced together. Not sorry I listened but probably wouldn't recommend except to those with similar interests to mine.

Historia
The previous edition of this now-classic book revealed the existence and subversive manipulations of "economic hit men". John Perkins wrote that economic hit men (EHM) "are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder".

Good story, pathetic main character.
Revisado: 05-29-22
First half was interesting. Second half was nothing but self-righteous moralizing based on nothing but the author's preferences. An entire chapter contains nothing but references to news stories that the author admits he doesn't know to be true. Whole book is a thinly veiled attempt to indoctrinate readers to leftist ideology, which has directly murdered more people in the 20th century than any other ideology throughout all of history.

I'm still trying to take it all in. Simply astounding. I've literally never heard most of this information anywhere else, and the context it provides is deeply meaningful.
