I’ve been a big fan of the series. Character development and story are well done and very thought provoking. I’m a fan of Christopher Lane and listen to books because he narrates them. That’s how I found the Ranch series. Every opportunity I found during my day to listen to the audio book I took. Many times I thought to myself, “as a father what would I have done” in Braden’s or Alex’s situation? Those are they types of books I enjoy being immersed in.

Mr. Liscom, I know this is the last of the Ranch series but do write more in this survival genre. I really enjoyed this one.

I thought I had figured out Sara Barton’s killer half way into the book. Boy, was I surprised at the big reveal. I like surprises! I also like that I now have a new author to listen to. I’m starting to queue up some of his other books now.

Christopher Lanes narration and performance is always, always top-notch. I often listen to books simply because he’s narrating it. So convincing and mastery of story telling is so compelling.

Rare do sequels exceed the entertainment value of their first volume in a series. New characters are a great addition to the cast and story. A lot more action than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. This almost plays out like a Jack Reacher novel minus a lone wolf hero. Eddies character is one that all audiences will root for. I really do hope this turns into a screenplay. It’s certainly worthy of a larger audience.

Looking for a book for work related road trip, I was looking to see if any of Jerry Merritt’s books were released. My favorite being A Gift of Time. The Unusual life was a “what others liked” pick so sampled it and seemed interesting enough. I was not disappointed. The redemptive premise is not new but always enjoyable content because everyone can related to “if I could go back in time, I would change this or that”. I’m going to get Book 2 given I was pleased with Book 1. The Authors commentary at the end was a nice touch.

What an incredible story. I devoured this book in just a couple days. I can’t say I subscribe to everything Goggins preaches but there are certainly guiding principles that resonate with me that will forever stick with me and motivate me to go harder. I can say with confidence it’s changed my world view in a sense and how much effort I put into things and not being afraid to fail or needing to fear period. The additional dialogue between the narrator and Goggins between chapters was a huge bonus getting to hear what was going on in Goggins head and how he pushed through pain. I’m going to get a couple copies of this book for co-workers as Christmas Gifts. If this doesn’t seriously challenge someone to rethink their efforts on charging forward or elevating their game, I don’t know what will. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Having listened to Charles Duhigg’s “Smarter Faster Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business” I was motivated to listen to this as well. Very helpful in identifying cues and loops in what triggers our habits. Stories about how companies tap into and exploit habits; how personal habits develop (with some devastating outcomes noted in the book) and prescriptive framework to help identify them has motivated me to pinpoint the source of “why” I persist with habits, experiment in satiating then with better things, or eliminating them altogether. I now have insight on what to look for so having personally learned some things and having a better perspective, I would highly recommend this book.

Some of the guidelines provided were common sense on the surface but it does a good job of explaining the framework by using easy to understand labels and other descriptors and real life examples to help the listener absorb the concept. I plan on using some of the guidelines in the book in my everyday business handlings and negotiations.

...as well as cognitive thinking, diversity to spur creativity, information blindness and other mind mapping constructs. I was captivated by the aviation stories and the comparisons to pilot error and pilot success through familiar thought models. As a manager of a development team and having decision influence on support teams, this book has inspired me to approach goal setting, data analysis and collaboration differently. I’m excited to get started.

I appreciate the book for the effort the author invested year after year to help catch the GSK. The writing was good but the story was disjointed IMO. Candidly, going into this without any previous knowledge, I was kind of hoping justice were exacted. I waited and waited. I suppose just like Michelle. It was not a waste of time and I appreciate someone was so devoted to catching the scum bag, however. I prefer books like “Forensics: What Bugs, Burns, Prints, DNA, and More Tell Us About Crime” by Val McDermid.

I had certain elevated expectations. Something so gripping that I wouldn’t be able to put the book down. It was a little slow going until about half way through when a certain guest (King fans will know) became part of the story. The guest added the “missing ingredient” the book was lacking (at least for me). I consumed the book at that point. An interesting villain I was not expecting but it explained why and what happened. If you listen to the book, be patient. As he always does, Will Patton does a great performance and keeps the book interesting. Give the book a chance. Not every King book hits it out of the ballpark but this one keeps the game close.
