Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Love the book, did not love the narrator
Revisado: 02-15-20
This is a WONDERFUL and NECESSARY read for white people. I appreciate that it is straightforward and gives concrete examples of what has happened and how white filks can do things differently. Please read this book. Small side note: the narration for this is terrible. It sounds like a robot reading the text. I really wish it had been read by the author.

Historia
You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

Ugh
Revisado: 12-11-18
This book...I hated it. I haven’t actively hated something so much since I was forced to read particular books in school. It could have been charming, but it wasn’t. The protagonist is grumpy the whole way through. He doesn’t appreciate any of the beauty of the countries he visits, he just complains about the difference in culture. The author doesn’t focus enough on any other character to actually enjoy them and the ending leaves so much to be desired.

Busy Philipps’ autobiographical audiobook offers the same unfiltered and candid storytelling that her Instagram followers have come to know and love, from growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona, and her painful and painfully funny teen years to her life as a working actress, mother, and famous best friend. Busy is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents as an actress is equally matched by her storytelling ability, sense of humor, and sharp observations about life, love, and motherhood. Her conversational writing reminds us what we love about her on screens of all sizes.

This book is great. Her impression of her mom is hysterical, she’s honest and vulnerable and relatable. I had such a great time with this book!

Gosh I loved this book - being a woman from Texas and hearing the inside version of stories I saw happening in my home state was so inspiring.
