Historia
When Columbia professor Dickson Despommier set out to solve America's food, water, and energy crises, he didn't just think big - he thought up. The vertical farm has excited scientists, architects, and politicians around the globe. These farms, grown inside skyscrapers, would provide solutions to many of the serious problems we currently face.

Revisado: 04-28-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The topic of this book is very important to me for I do believe that the author is correct that vertical farming is workable, and we as a nation are doing little to prove or disprove its practicality. In the reading of this manuscript I was most disappointed that the author did not write more about the actual workings of vertical farming. The authors seem to move more in the direction of historical and philosophical facts.
What did you like best about this story?
That a book was written in the first place about such an important subject. The book itself was disappointing to me although I do believe that scientifically vertical farming is an answer to many of the world's problems.
Have you listened to any of Sean Runnette’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
What a stupid question to ask about a book such as this.
Any additional comments?
Much more should be written concerning the possibility and practicality of vertical farming. I do believe that in the future despite the lack of interest now being shown by our government to such an important subject that prototypes of vertical farming will prove to be successful.

Historia
Dee Brown's eloquent, meticulously documented account of the systematic destruction of the American Indian during the second half of the 19th century uses council records, autobiographies, and firsthand descriptions. Brown allows great chiefs and warriors of the Dakota, Ute, Sioux, Cheyenne, and other tribes to tell us in their own words of the battles, massacres, and broken treaties that finally left them demoralized and defeated.

Revisado: 07-12-13
Would you listen to Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee again? Why?
This audiobook was well worth the time of hearing, and well read. It details the horrible tragedy of the killing of the American Indians. It should be part of every school children's education.
What did you like best about this story?
Each individual tribe and it's leaders are spoken of in detail. The dishonorable cowardly American generals and soldiers who took part in this horrible tragedy full of lies and broken treaties are spoken of in detail. This includes the many presidents of the United States that allowed it to happen and heroes such as Gen. Sherman who should rot in hell.
What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Grover Gardner did an outstanding job in reading this book to me. I myself find it difficult now at the age of 82 read more than a printed page or two of any book so I found this audible book very purposeful and well done.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The tragedies brought forth in such good detail was more than a reaction from me. To say I enjoyed the book is not a fair statement, however I am very glad that I was fortunate enough to be able to hear it.
Any additional comments?
The revisionist history that is taught to our children in our schools has brought forth much more of the same dishonesty, greed and tragedy that our nation has found itself part of. History should be a lesson!

Historia
Over the past few decades, a handful of scientists have been racing to explain a disturbing aspect of our universe: only four percent of it consists of the matter that makes up you, me, our books, and every star and planet. The rest is completely unknown. Richard Panek tells the dramatic story of the quest to find this “dark” matter and an even more bizarre substance called “dark energy”. This is perhaps the greatest mystery in all of science, and solving it will bring fame, funding, and certainly a Nobel Prize.

What made the experience of listening to The 4 Percent Universe the most enjoyable?
Outstanding the well read. Researched outstanding. Easily understood fall of facts, stories and conclusions that me on the edge of your sea waiting for the next bit of well documented informationt.
What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?
Excellent! Read at a speed and clarity that was precise and easy to follow.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, however I read this book or better said heard this book over a period of a week allowing me to digest its tax.
Any additional comments?
This book made it clear that there was definitely as far as today's science was able to tell dark matter as well as dark energy, and that the universe is expanding at a rapid pace, As is known matter makes up 4% of the known universe. All this being true the conclusion of this manuscript is that although science has accepted the existence of dark matter and dark energy science has only taking a baby step in understanding the how and the why of the universe. There is so much more science to be uncovered and understood!. As Plato wrote concerning Socrates when asked what do you know Socrates reply was;" I know that I do not know..

Twenty-five years ago, when Pat Robertson and other televangelists first spoke of the United States being a Christian nation that would build a global Christian empire, it was hard to take such hyperbolic rhetoric seriously. Today, such language no longer sounds like hyperbole but poses, instead, a very real threat to our freedoms and our way of life.

Revisado: 08-26-12
What did you love best about American Fascists?
Written in a manner that is very easy to read and follow with a natural flow to the book.
I believe that what is spoken of in this book one only has to do is look around to see the truth in it. Very little is said about Dominiionism for to even the liberal it may sound politically incorrect to do so. The Dominionist is a real powerful movement in America at this moment passive action to stop this danger is not enough for the Dominionist movement is well oiled and very well funded.

One of the world's 50 living autistic savants is the first and only to tell his compelling and inspiring life story and explain how his incredible mind works. Worldwide, there are fewer than 50 living savants, those autistic individuals who can perform miraculous mental calculations or artistic feats. (Think Dustin Hoffman's character in Rain Man.) None of them has been able to discuss his or her thought processes, much less write a book. Until now.

What did you love best about Born on a Blue Day?
I had thought that I would learn more about savants, which is a subject I have found of great interest. This book was much more than that to me. Let me state here that I am not autistic, or am I a savant, yet I found so much in Daniel that is me.The book has taught me much about myself.I unlike other reviewers find Daniel not to be at all self-indulgent instead being honest, very honest! This I am afraid is a virtue which is not as common today as it could, and should be.Those who read this book and who did not find the value of this within it I believe missed the purpose and meaning of it's writing. A wonderful story interesting and with great purpose.

I Thought everyone who could think already knew
Revisado: 04-13-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes it is worth a read, and what is written is true, I myself thought that most already knew most of the facts within this book. You may have to plow your way though some of the book.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The conclusion could be seen long before the ending of the book. I do go along with the idea put forth that too much is covered in the teaching of our history, and that more important than remembering dates and names would be to open up the minds of the student to what was their take on the information put before them. Teach history as an interesting story and the student will learn and take an interest in it.
Any additional comments?
History can be the most interesting class that a high school student would take. It is up to the teacher to make it so. Our present school systems do not allow our teachers to do this. Don't teach to test teach to Think!

Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes.

Interesting yet not great
Revisado: 07-06-11
I must admit that I agree with much that Dawkins writes concerning religion. He goes into great detail to make his point, however to me his points are more about how religion has and is holding back science as well as holding on to its followers by the use of fear and less about "God." I guess that one can see that what is called "God" in a very individual concept.. The "God" that Dawkins writes of has a long white beard and lives on a mounttain. He is the "God" of the "Bible." which is not what some including myself see what is referred to as "God." So if you include this thinking in your reading the book is interesting, and worth a read.

The Best Book Written on the II WW
Revisado: 06-30-11
A wonderful, enjoyable read that all should read, and be at least be discussed in American schools. Full of details that even though I thought before my reading that I knew somewhat about I gained so very much from the research and style of Wm.Shirer.Yes, it could happen again. Next time it might not be Germany where it comes from. The only thing that can stop evil of this sort occuring once more is knowledge. Today in America there is too little of that. just have a conversation with the average high school student..

Twenty years ago, with The End of Nature, Bill McKibben offered one of the earliest warnings about global warming. Those warnings went mostly unheeded; now, he insists, we need to acknowledge that we've waited too long, and that massive change is not only unavoidable but already under way. Our old familiar globe is suddenly melting, drying, acidifying, flooding, and burning in ways that no human has ever seen.

A very important and interesting read
Revisado: 07-19-10
This is a must read for anyone and everyone that lives on this little rock that we call Earth. It is well researched, and for me has opened up my thinking to a few practical yet very important facts concerning our carbon problems. One idea that I was not aware of is the importants of localisation when it came to food production and energy. The author makes it clear that much harm has been already done to our Earth. This is why he refers to this small rock in space as Eaarth. What he does is not ring his hands, but show what can be done on Eaarth as it is today. Much can be done! All should read this book.
