Where does End of Days rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
James Swanson is one of the best writers of history ever. Audible only offers the abridged version of Manhunt, his book about the Lincoln conspiracy and aftermath. I enjoyed the abridged version so much that I purchased the book and read the entire work. Like Manhunt, End of Days was perfect and methodical in analyzing the Kennedy assassination. I learned so much about it, some even in the minutest details Swanson includes. Swanson is a gifted writer and teacher.
What did you like best about this story?
Swanson's methodical attention to details to make the recording a perfect work.
What about Richard Thomas’s performance did you like?
It was very good. Nothing in particular stood out, but his voice kept me interested in listening throughout the entire book.

The frankness and honesty to show his imperfections.
What other book might you compare Face the Music to and why?
Scar Tissue by Anthony Keidas or The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx.
What about Paul Stanley’s performance did you like?
He had a phenomenal voice that strengthened the honesty in his story. Many times when authors narrate their own book, the performance is so bad that it ruins the book (i.e. Cold Mountain) . Paul's was perfect and made the book fantastic.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sex, Sex, and Rock and Roll. And More Sex

My worst audible.com listen by far!

What would have made The Modern Scholar better?
The narrator seemed to ramble and ramble on and on in a very dry tone. I believe he is knowledgeable, but he just didn't deliver the material in a clear way so that the listener actually learned.
What was most disappointing about John Ramsden’s story?
His presentation made it difficult to learn.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He stuttered quite a bit throughout the course and it was apparent that there were many points at which there was splice and second or third take.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointed. I love learning and am sad to say that I have so little knowledge about World War I. I truly wanted to learn more about the war. I logged on and took a "final exam" that is on the Modern Scholar website. I only got a 57% on the final. In other academic type activities, I usually score over 90.

I hate to complain and get something in return, but I wish I could have this credit back.

Would you listen to Ready Player One again? Why?
Yes, there were times when my mind wandered away from the story. I would gain a greater appreciation with a second listen.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ready Player One?
I liked it when the main character solved a puzzle on his first try, then met another player signing on who had tried to solve it many times, but failed. He then tries to trick her into thinking this was his first time and he failed.

Chef Hamilton opened her life and told her story....the good, the bad, and the ugly. I appreciate the honesty that she shows in describing her life.
What does Gabrielle Hamilton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her inflections when telling stories make the book more interested and those don't translate to the printed word.

Yes, but I couldn't

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Jesse told his attorney that he didn't know why people kept saying that he worshiped "Satin" [sic] Poor Jesse, borderline retarded, didn't even know what "Satan" was although he was being accused of being a devil worshiper. How poetic.

What did you like best about this story?
The beginning and the end of the book were interesting. The middle part was a little slow. I would have liked to hear more about what the prison life was like which is a bit glossed over.
