Historia
When eight-year-old Nora arrives at the Park Ridge School for Girls in 1932, she is sure there’s been some mistake. She can’t imagine why she and her little sister, Patsy, were torn from their mother only to be subjected to the cruel whims of the house matron, Mrs. Morris. When their mother fails to rescue them week after week—and Mrs. Morris drops hints that their mother may be a “fallen woman”—Nora begins to doubt they will ever see her again.

The ending was so redemptive and uplifting

I loved this story, it reminds me of listening to my mother-in-laws early years. Although not exact she was separated early on from her mother and had to go live with one relative and another so her mother could work. It is heartbreaking that children were treated as a thing that their little minds were so inconsequential to treat gently. Loved the realization at the end, love and forgiveness especially of yourself.

Compassion for each other enriches our world and peoples lives as much as Disdain and cruelty destroys and stifles lives

I loved how the ripple effect that caring and compassion for one another has on individual lives that reach outward into the world

Thought provoking

Although I was intrigued by the audio sample, I am not a gung ho survivalist type person. I do find the post apocalyptic genre interesting, so even tho I was skeptical, I downloaded the first book. I will say it’s the characters and storytelling that kept me engrossed for all three books!
