This is a six (6) book bundle of cozy mystery stories centered around the murder investigations conducted by Sabrina and David Carlson. Sabrina is an amateur sleuth turned police consultant and David is a Treasure Cove Detective by profession. I first met Sabrina and David in the Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery Series by the same author, Meredith Potts. Sabrina and David are now married and have a ten-year-old daughter, Jessica (named after Sabrina's deceased sister) in this series. Sabrina is still managing her family's business, a coffee shop named The Daley Buzz; but, has hired a manger to handle the daily customer service which frees her early mornings to allow her to start off her day taking care of her family first and foremost. I love that in this series that Sabrina has matured into such a caring and compassionate person. There are many characters in this series that I had met in the previous series. It felt somewhat like I was catching up with old friends in this series.

In the first book, Murder and Chocolate Fudge Cake, I was introduced to Sabrina and David's daughter and caught up on her parents and grandmother (still living and as feisty as ever!).
The mystery is who murdered Ryan Davidson in his own living room! Was it someone related to his landscaping business? Was it someone tied to his messy divorce from Jocelyn? There are so many possibilities to chase down. Sabrina and David are on the case and of course Sabrina will not rest until Ryan's killer is brought to justice. Not just for Ryan; but, for his 18-year-old daughter as well.

Each book in this series was well written and very entertaining. I have enjoyed reading this series by Meredith Potts and highly recommend these mysteries to any age group. They are clean and non-violent, appropriate for all ages.

Carrie Burgess does a very good job playing both male and female characters. She is engaging and fun to listen to as she narrates the story. Her narration added to my enjoyment of this series.

The second book, Murder and Layer Cake...
Mark Wilcox has been murdered and the leads are almost non-existent. The case seems to be going cold. But, Sabrina always solves her mysteries. Will she be able to solve this puzzling mystery as well?

The third book, Murder and Chocolate Cake...
Wade Becker escapes from prison and Sabrina knows he is coming after her for revenge! She was responsible for him being sent to prison after she figured out he killed her sister. She knows that she will have to find him before he makes her his next victim.

The fourth book, Murder and Citrus Cream Cake ...
Wally Tuttle and Sabrina have been friends since grade school. He is a nice guy. So, why would he be found stabbed to death on his living room floor? Wally and Diane had been married for five (5) years. Was Diane to blame? Why, why, why? It's up to Sabrina and David to solve the murder of a close friend and bring his murdered to justice!

The fifth book, Murder and Cherry Cake ...
Oh no! Another missing woman in Treasure Cove. It has been nearly three decades since Sabrina's sister Jessica went missing. It took over ten years to find her body. Surely history cannot be repeating itself! Where is Sabrina's friend, Angela Hummel? As Sabrina begins searching for Angela, she fears this new case will have a familiar tragic ending. Will things turn out differently this time? Can Sabrina beat the odds and find Angela before it's too late?

The sixth book, Murder and Vanilla Cake ...
Just when things seem to be settling down for Sabrina Carlson and her family there is another murder that must be solved. Local business owner, Jim Hartley, is found murdered. As Sabrina and David begin investigating Jim's murder, they encounter a number of folks with whom they have not always had a pleasant association in the past. Not only that, they seem to want to be even more unpleasant as Sabrina and David tackle this murder investigation. Sabrina worries for the safety of her family as the story develops. Hang on for another exciting mystery.

This series started off slow for me. In the first book Sabrina, the main character, struck me as quite unlikeable. Luckily,I continued to read the series and found each of the following books were better than the preceding book.

In this book, the physic introduced in the first book is murdered. The story bounced around a lot of possible suspects.

The main character is becoming more likeable in this book. She is still persistent and abrasive; but, not as unlikeable as in book 1. She assists her detective boyfriend (David) in investigating the murder (still unrealistic to me).

I enjoyed the performance of the narrator (Lisa Beacom) of books 2-5 over the performance of the narrator (Lainie Pahos) in book 1. Lisa's dramatic performance brought this story to life.

This series started off slow for me. In the first book Sabrina, the main character, struck me as quite unlikeable. Luckily,I continued to read the series and found each of the following books were better than the preceding book.

In this book, the owner of one of Sabrina and David's favorite restaurants is murdered. There is a long list of potential suspects that kept me guessing until the end of the book.

The main character is becoming more likeable in the third book. She is quite persistent although seems to be less abrasive than in the earlier books. She assists her detective boyfriend (David) as an independent consultant to the police department. Speaking of David, his character has become more of a realistic detective as the series progresses.

In this book, the mystery of the hypnotherapist is solved (multiple mysteries were introduced in book 1 and each book solves one of the mysteries introduced in the first book).

The main character is quite likeable in the fourth book. Although she is still as persistent as a dog after a bone, she is more connected to others feelings and does not come off as abrasive as in the early books. She assists her detective boyfriend (David) as an independent consultant to the police department. Speaking of David, his character has become more of a realistic detective as the series progresses.

I was quite surprised at the ending of the story. It was really a great twist on the story.

Finally, the mystery of her missing sister is resolved! The story of her older sister gone missing was how the series began in book 1. I had been disappointed that the mystery of her missing older sister was not solved in book 1. Instead multiple mysteries were introduced and only one solved in the first book.

The main character is quite likeable in the fifth book. She is more connected to others feelings and not as abrasive as in the early books. She assists her detective boyfriend (David) as an independent consultant to the police department. Speaking of David, his character has become more of a realistic detective.

I really got pulled in with the story of a girl gone missing while taking her morning jog. I was disappointed that the mystery solved in the book was not the mystery of the missing jogger presented at the beginning of the book.

Sabrina, younger sister of the missing girl, is the main character of the book and I didn't find her likeable. She was not only rude; but, cold, insensitive, and heartless at times. Not really what I expect of the main character in a cozy mystery.

The detective in the story is Sabrina's boyfriend. His character was not believable to me. His actions were what you might expect from a rookie, certainly not a detective. He allowed Sabrina so many liberties against procedure that it made the story hard to be enjoyed as it was not believable.

The story followed Sabrina as she tried to figure out who killed her friend; but, it didn't provide clues which would have helped me figure out who the killer was and made it a more enjoyable read.

There were several mysteries presented; but only one solved. It was almost like reading a cliffhanger book. I will read the next book if for no other reason than to see if any of the mysteries that we're created and then ignored are to be solved.
1. Why there are lights on at a mansion that has been abandoned for years? Multiple times.
2. Why certain businessmen of the town are dressed in suits and waiting in line to enter a banquet hall that has been closed for some time? Why is it a such a secret? Why the need to have a guard posted?
3. How is a hypnotherapist supposedly responsible for changing derelicts into model citizens?
4. What is the connection with a physic advisor to the hypnotherapist?
5. Will the mystery that was first presented in the book be solved? What happened to the missing sister?
...Maybe since this is the first book of the series, the writer was simply 'setting the stage' for the series.

I'm new to listening to audiobooks. I thought at first the performer was a little stiff; but; she became more relaxed as the story continued. Even so, it sounded more like a reading to me as opposed to a dramatic performance.

UPDATE after reading book five...
I just finished reading the five book series which started off with a mediocre three stars rating from me on the first book. I am giving a five star rating to the fifth book. The story and characters have improved that much! Each book in the series was a little better than the preceding book. It was well worth reading the entire series. Each book solved one of the mysteries that we're introduced on the first book. Sabrina became more likeable as the series progressed as well. Her abrasiveness soften significantly. David became a more realistic police detective.
