Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

Very insightful
Revisado: 06-10-21
The book applies the notion of “Caste” to American race relations. The author explains that race is the language of caste but caste is the framework and structure through which the social stratification is maintained. Very interesting perspective. The author discusses 3 major caste systems but does not discuss South Africa or Australia. I would loved to have heard the author’s perspective on those as well. Overall a really good “read”.

Very Interesting and Insightful
Revisado: 12-21-18
Really enjoyed this audio book. Mrs Obama started out having spoken about her childhood and upbringing on the south side of Chicago and then shifts to her life as FLOTUS. The insights Mrs. Obama provided were genuine and heartfelt. And for me, Mrs.Obama confirmed what I sensed from a distance: The Obamas were ordinary people (well...POTUS seemed like he was extraordinary his whole life...), thrust into an extraordinary situation and they adapted and ultimately made an impact. It's real and you feel like you know them a little better when it's done. Can't wait for 45 to tell his story!

Excellent Paleo Book
Revisado: 02-17-16
If you could sum up Paleo Diet: Unleash the Power of the Paleo Diet in three words, what would they be?
Good. Fast. Read. There is a lot of information out there describing this eating plan, however, in this book the authors provide unique insights that many of the others do not. The authors does not make empty declarative statements, rather they provide just enough theory so the reader can understand why the plan works. My only compliant is that half of the book consists of recipes but they are not available in PDF. But if it is any consolation, the authors read the recipes aloud, including nutrition information. If you want the recipes you will either have to listen to them or transcribe them yourself.
What did you like best about this story?
Easy to understand and digest (no pun intended)
Have you listened to any of Grace Moses’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I will
Any additional comments?
Heads-up: the book is short and costs a full credit.

The story is long and intricate. There are many characters to keep up with and if you fail to listen intently, you will get lost. The language is captivating and beautiful.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Would you try another book from Veronica Roth and/or Emma Galvin?
Probably not
Would you ever listen to anything by Veronica Roth again?
Probably not
Any additional comments?
I rarely write reviews but I feel compelled to share a few thoughts on this one. Perhaps one of the more erudite (pun intended) readers can enlighten me.
I found this book very reminiscent of The Hunger Games book1. There are several parallels between the two dystopic societies with faction/districts fighting the evil government/opposing faction. Really felt like a knock off to me.
Hate to be a downer in the shadow of so many positive reviews but some one may find this opposing point of view helpful.
