Historia
Mitza Maric has always been a little different from other girls. Most 20-year-olds are wives by now, not studying physics at an elite Zurich university with only male students trying to outdo her clever calculations. But Mitza is smart enough to know that, for her, math is an easier path than marriage. And then fellow student Albert Einstein takes an interest in her, and the world turns sideways. Theirs becomes a partnership of the mind and of the heart, but there might not be room for more than one genius in a marriage.

Such an interesting fictional story based on factual people and a plethora of documents researched! I learned so much and was eager to keep reading more about Mileva, constantly rooting for her! It’s a must read!

Historia
Eleven-year-old David is about to meet his new stepsister, Amanda, who is only one year older than he is. Amanda arrives at their big old house wearing a huge tattered shawl and carrying a sharp-eyed crow in a cage. She is hardly what David expects. Before long, she introduces David to a strange world of witchcraft and the occult. At first, spells and potions are fun. He enjoys the spooky chants and smoky seances. Even his younger brother and sisters join in, making sure their parents suspect nothing.

Exciting and spooky story!
Revisado: 02-17-24
While I’m not into the occult, this story which introduces it from the perspective of a novice and neophytes, is interesting and still relatable. Definitely a page turner—love books by ZKS!

Another great story by ZKS!

I enjoyed this depression era story of realistic fiction. The plot moved well, the characters were realistically creative, and I liked the ending. It has some sad content with abusive family members, but also hope and optimism. Reading performance was fine though I’ve heard ones that sound more like a story being told than a book being performed.

The story was told well, and the plot sometimes went the way I hoped, sometimes not, but in the end, the final twists had me! If you liked the Hunger Games books, then this story is a must!

Historical fiction based on fact, well told!
Revisado: 05-22-23
I loved how each story teller had their own voice/reader and how the connections were gradually developed and revealed. Interesting story based on true stories and an early American scandal well written and told. I could do without the cliché romantic subplot, as I felt that part was not necessary and actually took away from the story. I would have been more impressed if certain characters discovered a different connection than the one they found. Still lots of excellent literary content and I still highly recommend it!

Historia
Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP, for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them when they come out to Palm Springs for weeklong visits, or when he heads home to Connecticut for the holidays. But in terms of caretaking and relating to two children, no matter how adorable, Patrick is, honestly, overwhelmed. So when tragedy strikes and Maisie and Grant lose their mother and Patrick's brother has a health crisis of his own, Patrick finds himself suddenly taking on the role of primary guardian.

Author reads - so fun!
Revisado: 08-22-22
I enjoyed the story and characters very much, but I think the best part was how the author read the story. It was told from third person point of view, but it was read so well and in character for each person, that I really felt like I was in the Guncle’s mind most of the time. A nice fun presentation with some themes on processing grief and the importance of family, but doesn’t get heavy. Great vocabulary choices by the author and his performance of Grant was adorable and hilariously perfect 😊
