Historia
The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. Now, the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune's power, have colonized a green world—and are tuning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile. Chapterhouse Dune is the last book Frank Herbert wrote before his death: A stunning climax to the epic Dune legend that will live on forever.

Just a lot of talking.
Revisado: 08-31-24
Lots of conversations and deep thoughts. I made it about 2/3 of the way through the book before I finally gave up hoping there would be an improvement. Very little action.

Historia
At ten months old, Holly Marie was brought to the door of a church by three barefoot women in white robes and head coverings. Adopted by the pastor and raised in a loving Christian home, Holly nevertheless struggled with the ache of not knowing what had happened to her biological parents. She still felt their absence even as she married and started a family of her own. When two detectives showed up at the restaurant where she worked and informed her that she had a large family in Florida who had been searching for her for over 40 years, Holly’s past became the reality of her present.

Repeatative
Revisado: 11-14-23
Too many times we are reminded that Holly is “you”, the author. Too many times we hear the same spiritual out takes on her experiences. It was well established in the beginning of the story of her filter used to view life. I would have liked to hear the story unfold without being reminded of her spirituality over and over again.

Fun story. Good actors. Using earbuds, I felt like there were flies and mosquitoes in the same room as myself!

Challenging
Revisado: 06-23-22
Having listened to the Belgariad and Mallorean books read by the amazing Cameron Beierle, Mr. Abby's readings fall quite short from a performance standpoint. I almost gave up on the 1st book within the first hour, but made myself stick with it. He reads each sentence as an emphatic statement. Sentences that are questions have no ending inflections that you would expect. Characters that are mumbling are presented as a loud statement. His ability to do different voices is so-so.
The books themselves are not the creative written quality as the older ones, and that was a disappointment to me. Maybe this is the reason for Mr Abby's performance - it's what he had to work with.

Something distracting.
Revisado: 03-17-21
I love all the books in this series, but this one had a background hissing noise and a faint vocal echo. It was a bit distracting but the story telling carried me through.
