Historia
When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

All the main characters had the same voice
Revisado: 10-21-22
Good for Bobiverse, bad for books where those are different people.
Anyway, that's the only problem I had with this.
It's a fun-ass ride

Historia
A lord according to the system, Grant Monday has arrived in February. This place is the absolute opposite of January, and his largest challenge isn’t hostile Wielders. Instead, the new lord needs to face culture shock, contending with strange foods, stringent training, and a stomach-churning subrace of humans known as "Joggers". Grant chose the wrong time to try to take on the world: Every single citizen of February is a powerful body cultivator, and this year there has been a huge shift in the power dynamics of the District.

Much better than the 1st
Revisado: 03-10-22
All the basic stuff improved this time around.
But by far, the biggest improvement is not feeling like you're going to get diabetes listening to it.
The closest you get are a bunch of instances of 'ew, those health shakes taste gross I remember I think'.
...
Which is better...

Historia
Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon. Survival horror. One of the most brutal, most terrifying full-immersion games ever made. A place where fantasy characters such as elves and dwarves clash with technology, where giant monsters roam the hills, entrusted with protecting the gates of heaven from the demons who would tear it all down. A game where one plays the last of the battlefield surgeons: a healer tasked with keeping the behemoths alive at all costs. But on this server, they don't care about the game. They've come because of the game's most unique feature: full pain.

Yay Genital Mutilation!
Revisado: 03-07-22
Matt Dinniman has some issues with showing vs telling.
Not for that part though.
Not for the multiple chapters in a row all about it.
Fun for the whole family.

When his brother vanishes, and five years later he's kidnapped as well, he's given a stark choice by his asshat of a father: Go to the UnderVerse in reality, travel to the capitol of that ruined realm at the center of reality, and open a portal for the Noble Houses to return home...or die.

The main character sounds like a 70-year-old war vet

Apparently, he's supposed to be a teenager.
The performance quality is fine, but ALL the characters have such badly matched voices that it ruins the immersion.

Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

The Title is a Red Herring
Revisado: 12-27-21
Just FYI
It’s a fun ride, but it quickly abandons all pretense of being about a magical shop
Overall, I liked it a lot and will definitely be reading the next one.
But this gets 4 stars from me, and not 5, because I would really prefer more reason behind the actions of the MC.
He just does random stuff with no actual plan, and it later turns out to have been the best thing he could have done.
Although I will admit that while I predicted that the book would end with a deus Ex machina, I was surprised by the character becoming a literal personification of one.
( hopefully that’s vague enough not to be a spoiler )

Too Cringey to Read
Revisado: 07-21-21
I couldn't last through the first chapter.
Nearly every sentence makes me want to slap the writer's hand off the keyboard, point at it, and say a clipped "NO!" like he was a dog that peed on the carpet.
I skipped ahead and listened to the start of a few more chapters just to confirm that it wasn't a red herring.
It's so bad that I thought it would be irresponsible of me not to check and make sure it wasn't all a clever mislead.
It's not.
I'll return this if Audible lets me
Yikes
