Historia
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." These were the words that defined Fitzwilliam Darcy's young life. Any measure of integrity, honor, loyalty—these were secondary considerations to the size of a bachelor's estate. The only lady to esteem his genuine character was now lost forever, and he must face his future alone.

This release is for the audio version of this book that was released almost two years ago. I enjoyed the audiobook. The narrator has a great reading voice that was engaging and soothing. I had not originally realized this was the same book I had previously read, but I’m glad I listened to it, as I enjoyed the book more this time.
The story is a retelling of the original Pride & Prejudice from Darcy’s point of view. We learn a lot more about Darcy and about some of his experiences that form his cynicism and pride that he presents to the people of Meryton. We also meet some new characters and get some insight into some of the original side characters. I liked how the author depicted Anne deBourgh. So little is known of Anne and I liked the depth and spirit she had here. There were some very touching scenes involving her character. There was also some more insight into Caroline Bingley and some explanations to some of her flawed traits.
I liked that many of the characters go through a journey in this book and you see growth and development that is plausible and redeeming. The book did seem a bit long and dragged at times, probably because there was a lot of repetition of what we already know. Overall, I did enjoy this book and the extra insight that it provides. There is enough new to make it interesting. The writing is good and flows nicely. I would be interested in reading more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Historia
Once trapped by marriage to a woman he loathed, Fitzwilliam Darcy is finally free again. Resentful, bewildered, and angry, he is eager to begin his life over - preferably with a woman who is the exact opposite of his wife. He never imagined a short stay in Hertfordshire would bring him face to face with his worst nightmare; a woman similar in face, form, and name. He certainly never expected her to be so impossible to ignore.

Excellent
Revisado: 03-03-21
I adore Harry Frost as a narrator!!! He contributed so much to my enjoyment of this story! He gets 10 stars out of 5!
4.5 rounded up to a 5 for the story. This book was such a delight! I love stories from Darcy's perspective, but this one is very fun and unique. Instead of the reserved, but impeccably mannered Mr. Darcy, we get the raw and embittered Darcy who has had enough of the rewards of living up to society's dictates and expectations. He has always let his overdeveloped sense of honor and duty govern his choices and it has brought him nothing but trouble and grief, more than even he realizes when we begin this journey with him. Those choices led him into a miserable marriage and highly undesirable in-laws where he never even pretended to grieve or regret the loss of his wife, Elizabeth Benedict. What's in a name?- in this story, quite a bit as his very reaction to a different, but similarly named Elizabeth is all based on his former nemesis of a wife and he sure does make a mess of things! I found myself laughing out loud at many of his unguarded thoughts, comments and behavior and cringing for him at other times. I really enjoyed seeing his development start from a very different place and the change process that he goes through. Just when you think things can't get any worse, there's a new twist that will have you on pins and needles. The satisfaction of a HEA did finally come, and it was really worth the wait! A must read for Darcy fans!!!

Historia
One distressing night in Ramsgate, Elizabeth Bennet impulsively offers Georgiana Darcy aid. Scandalous rumors soon surround the ladies and Fitzwilliam Darcy, forcing Elizabeth and Darcy, strangers to each other, to marry. Darcy despises everything about his marriage to the daughter of an insignificant country gentleman with vulgar relations. Georgiana, humiliated after a near-elopement with George Wickham and full of Darcy pride, hates her new sister. Their family look upon Elizabeth with suspicion and do little to hide their sentiments.

Great Audiobook
Revisado: 03-03-21
Just finished this audiobook and really enjoyed it! First off- 5+ stars to this narrator!!! I have listened to other audiobooks narrated by Harry Frost and he makes every book better! He has the perfect reading voice IMO!
The story- There were so many great things about this book. The author did a great job of capturing Darcy & Elizabeth’s characters and developing their relationship that began in such a rough way. There was such an emotional connection to the story & characters that drew me in right from the start. It was heart wrenching at times and the HEA was a hard fought battle that made it that much sweeter once it was realized. My only complaint was that there was way too much introspection. It made the book drag out a little too long and I tired of reading the same subject of reflection time and again from the same characters as well as other characters. If a good chunk of self reflection and self degradation could be cut out, it would go from being a great book to a really excellent book in my opinion. (less)

Love and Forgiveness
Revisado: 10-12-20
This was an excellent book with an excellent narration!
Wow! This author has such a talent for writing stories that engage you and connect with every fiber of your being! She is an absolute favorite of mine and this story was no exception and lived up to my every expectation. This is not an easy read (or listen) and certainly not for the faint of heart because you will feel things, many many things throughout the course of this book and you will feel them deeply. Romance, laughter, fear, disappointment, tears, anger, despair, hope, forgiveness, second chances. These are things I experienced many times over during the course of this story. This is a long journey where after an immediate and deep attraction and attachment, two people who have fallen in love now have to learn that it takes more than romance and love to have a solid and lasting union. These lessons are hard learned and come at a high cost. Disastrous mistakes are made and damage is done that cannot be easily repaired. Only time, reflection, and a great deal of courage can finally lead to understanding, healing and new beginnings. I've often heard that anything worth having, you have to work for and this rings true in this story. A solid foundation is finally built, one heavy brick at a time, but in the end, what began as a love at first sight whirlwind romance is finally cultivated into a firm and abiding relationship with not only the love, but the respect, trust and confidence to stand the test of time!

A very ignorant and annoying Elizabeth Bennet
Revisado: 06-08-20
The narration of this book was wonderful, in fact if not for her soothing voice, I don't think I could have finished this book. The Elizabeth Bennet we know and love is nowhere to be found here. She is replaced by a woman that annoyed me so much that I felt she did not deserve Darcy. She was so willfully stupid and unlikeable. I seem to be in the minority as most people love this one, but not my cup of tea.

Original and fun twist on P&P
Revisado: 04-11-20
This book was a delight! I really enjoyed the authentic parts of my favorite classic book blended with the world of dragons. Our beloved characters are true to their characters for the most part and there are some fun new dragon characters to meet and love. The dragon aspect was very well thought out and explained making this an interesting and fun story. Elizabeth is all we know her to be and love her all the more for contribution to the dragon world. After finishing this book, I have to admit that I probably have more questions than answers and don't really feel satisfied with the ending. I guess I'll just have to get the next book in the series and hopefully have my curiosity fulfilled. The audio narrator did a fabulous job and I loved all of his voices that really seemed to fit our new dragon friends. I believe I will listen to the entire series as the voice in my head probably wouldn't hold a candle!

Amazing!!!
Revisado: 01-18-20
This story is not for the faint of heart! I thought my own heart would never recover, but of course, we do eventually get our hard fought for HEA. The saying that you have to work or fight for anything worth having is especially true in this book. Agonizing- but so worth it!!!Joanna Starnes is an amazing author that has such a talent to connect you to her stories so much so that you feel the joy and pain as if you were the one experiencing them. There was a fair share of both here. Such a well thought out and executed story!
