Historia
Private Detective Cormoran Strike is visiting his family in Cornwall when he is approached by a woman asking for help finding her mother, Margot Bamborough - who went missing in mysterious circumstances in 1974. Strike has never tackled a cold case before, let alone one 40 years old. But despite the slim chance of success, he is intrigued and takes it on; adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency, Robin Ellacott, are currently working on.

Performance not for me
Revisado: 05-11-21
I don’t understand why all the Italian characters are speaking broken English. I hate to say it, but they sound more like Boris and Natasha in the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons. I’m going to finish listening because I love Donna Leone, if I can get past the dialog.

Historia
On a gloomy morning in Vigàta, a call from Fazio rouses Inspector Montalbano from a nightmare. A man called Giugiù Nicotra has been found dead in the skeletal workings of a construction site, a place now entombed by a sea of mud from recent days of rain and floods. Shot in the back, he had fled into a water supply system tunnel. The investigation gets off to a slow start, but all the evidence points to the world of construction and public contracts, a world just as slimy and impenetrable as mud.

Liked the book. Didn’t love the performance.
Revisado: 02-25-19
I hate writing anything negative and rarely do so. I love the Montelbano books. This is my first Montelbano audiobook. Perhaps I had a preconceived notion of what he would sound like. This isn’t it. I expected Montelbano to sound gruffer. In text he barks commands and often is gruff. Instead, I thought he often sounded like a cross between a Brooklyn accent and Jack Benny. Also, why would a Sicilian character speak with an Italian-American accent in Sicily? Didn’t get it. The performance took away from the book for me. Next Montelbano book was will read.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

Had a hard time getting through it. Probably just me.
Had to start over three times to follow characters. Perhaps better for me as a read.

Historia
Stephanie Plum might not be the world's greatest bounty hunter, but she knows when she's being played. Ken Globovic (aka Gobbles), hailed as the Supreme Exalted Zookeeper of the animal house known as Zeta fraternity, has been arrested for beating up the dean of students at Kiltman College. Gobbles has missed his court date and gone into hiding. People have seen him on campus, but no one will talk. Things just aren't adding up.

What did you love best about Tricky Twenty-Two?
I love Janet Evanovich humor. Almost like Pink Panther movies: one funny mishap after another.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Tricky Twenty-Two?
I'm not finished yet, but kidnapping Lula has typical outcome for the kidnappers.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The story is told in first person and the setting is New Jersey. I really would have liked to hear some New Jersey dialect in Stephanie and NJ spunk in LulaI found myself saying, "That's not the way Lula would say that."
Any additional comments?
Love the book and characters. Having spent time in Philadelphia and Jersey, I hear them in my head differently than performed. Next time, I'll read the Stephanie Plum book.

Historia
The night after the fourth of July, Layton Carlson, Jr., of Red Wing, Minnesota, finally got lucky. And unlucky.
He’d picked the perfect spot to lose his virginity to his girlfriend, an abandoned farmyard in the middle of cornfields: nice, private, and quiet. The only problem was...something smelled bad - like, really bad. He mentioned it to a county deputy he knew, and when the cop took a look, he found a body stuffed down a cistern. And then another, and another. By the time Lucas Davenport was called in, the police were up to 15 bodies and counting.

Wonderful psycho thriller
Revisado: 03-03-15
Well read. Author slowly unravels a never-boring story that keeps the reader entertained and wanting to find out what happens next. The scene is painted so descriptively that the listener can fall into the story.
