Historia
When we think about the future of war, the military and Washington and most everyone gets it backwards. We think in terms of buying single military systems, such as fighter jets or aircraft carriers. And when we think about modernizing those systems, we think about buying better versions of the same things. But what really matters is not the single system but "the battle network"—the collection of sensors and shooters that enables a military to find an enemy system, target it, and attack it.

I liked the narrator, but he was somewhat dry. The information made up for that, though

Historia
In the overlooked moments and routines of our day, we can become aware of God's presence in surprising ways. How do we embrace the sacred in the ordinary and the ordinary in the sacred? Framed around one ordinary day, this book explores daily life through the lens of liturgy, small practices, and habits that form us. Each chapter looks at something - making the bed, brushing her teeth, losing her keys - that the author does every day. Come and discover the holiness of your every day.

The ordinary as holy
Revisado: 10-03-24
My favorite part was when she talked about God never getting tired of doing the same thing over and over, saying to the sun "Do it again!" as night ends and the sun rises. And of making daisies again and again. I began to see how much I complain about the drudge and it helped change my perspective of those daily activities that I get so tired of.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Wonderful, hopeful book
Revisado: 06-30-24
I loved the narrators and the story was both sad and hopeful. Someone said they would listen to Marin Ireland if she was reading the dictionary and I have to agree now! Michael Urie was perfect as the octopus, too. He gave Marcellus the dignity he deserved and portrayed his wit with perfect timing.
I saw My Octopus Teacher last fall on Netflix and it also shows octopuses as very intelligent creatures so it wasn't a stretch for me to see Marcellus as resourceful as he was.
I highly recommend this book for anyone.

Historia
This audiobook offers a critique of common spiritual warfare practices including binding Satan, renouncing curses, spiritual mapping, and exorcisms. Using scripture, and scripture alone, Pastor Jim Osman shows that true spiritual warfare is not a battle over territory, but a battle for the truth. A biblical approach to spiritual warfare recognizes the Bible as the sole authority, rejects unbiblical and man-made methods, and rests in Christ and his finished work for victory.

Excellent book on spiritual warfare
Revisado: 11-18-23
I appreciate this book so much. The Biblical doctrine is spot on and he used the Bible extensively in every chapter.
I got this book because of a recommendation on a podcast. I think it was the Just Thinking podcast because I listen to it a lot and it's more than a devotional.
The reason I gave it four stars is because he references the teaching of a few people who twist the word of God, but I have never heard of any of them. However, maybe some people need these specific references.
Maybe I'm not the target audience but I thought the book was great and I recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about spiritual warfare.

It was like I was back in Expeditionary Force! That's good and bad.
Revisado: 11-18-23
I think I liked Vaughn and Angela figuring out the next move in the previous versions more than the brute force fighting in this one. I like the science and R.C. Bray is always fantastic. I can't help but see what happens in the next one.

Very good book
Revisado: 05-04-23
The characters were well developed and the story was amazing. I appreciated how he wove the story together in such a way that you got a glimpse of what being a Roman soldier, a mercenary, and a Christian we're like and that the letter was the center of it all.

Historia
Eco-terrorists unleash the worst attack the world has ever seen. Over 25,000 autonomous combat drones are released in Manhattan. Hundreds of thousands are dead, and the entire island is evacuated and quarantined in just a few days' time. Ten years later, Manhattan is still empty of humans, with the exception of the salvage specialists of the most watched reality show in history: Zone War. Produced live and unedited, the show follows five teams of armored vehicle specialists who brave the active drones to recover lost riches and collect bounties on dead ones.

I loved this book. The narrator did a great job blending a teenager's attitude with exciting combat scenes. I think it would make a great FPS video game, and I hope there will be a sequel!

Join Clara Parkes on a cross-country adventure and meet a cast of characters that includes the shepherds, dyers, and countless workers without whom our knitting needles would be empty, our mills idle, and our feet woefully cold. Travel the country with her as she meets a flock of Saxon Merino sheep in upstate New York, tours a scouring plant in Texas, visits a steamy Maine dyehouse, helps sort freshly shorn wool on a working farm, and learns how wool fleece is measured, baled, shipped, and turned into skeins.
