Loved the book, enjoy the show
Revisado: 07-29-23
Have read a lot of both medicine and statistics/data science books. This one stands out for the ingenuity of the underlying research. Also well told. Production value was great. Enjoyed it and enjoy the show.

Historia
On August 5, 1942, giant pillars of dust rose over the Russian steppe, marking the advance of the 6th Army, an elite German combat unit dispatched by Hitler to capture the industrial city of Stalingrad and press on to the oil fields of Azerbaijan. The Germans were supremely confident; in three years, they had not suffered a single defeat. The Luftwaffe had already bombed the city into ruins. German soldiers hoped to complete their mission and be home in time for Christmas.

Very well done

Interesting. Compelling. Takes a rotating perspective of the characters involved. really neat book. The movie covers just one tiny aspect of the battle. This provides a broad overview.

Historia
Rebecca Wright has reclaimed her life, finding her way out of her grief and depression following a personal tragedy years ago. She spends her days working in customer support for the Internet dating site where she first met her husband. But she has a strange, persistent sense that everything around her is somewhat off-kilter: She constantly feels as if she has walked into a room and forgotten what she intended to do there; on TV, the president seems to be the wrong person in the wrong place; her dreams are full of disquiet.

Pays off in part II

I couldn't really see where this story was headed in the first half, but I was patient. It picks up a lot at the end. Not a run-of-the-mill time travel story.
Performance was great.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

Good book. good narrative. "speculative fiction" but with some dark humor. lots of sexual content. probably not for kids.
