Historia
Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams. But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier, a violent winter storm traps them at the estate… with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end. In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates, Tricia happens upon a secret room. One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr. Hale has ever interviewed.

There were too many inconsistencies in the characters, and none of the characters were like able.
Revisado: 10-20-24
I thought the plot was too contrived. It seemed the author was just trying to get a plot twist without taking into account how people would actually behave. The characters were inconsistent and none of them (maybe one) were like able. It was not realistic at all and the plot twist lost its punch because it was so pushed.

Great characters, great story
Revisado: 04-12-24
Eskens’s stories always have believable characters who do believable things for believable reasons. His stories are well told, and you don’t have to suspend your disbelief for the plot to make sense. The plot twist, though not foreseeable, makes sense when it happens. The narration is fantastic, too. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Historia
From America's most inventive novelist, Jonathan Lethem, comes this compelling and compulsive riff on the classic detective novel. Lionel Essrog is Brooklyn's very own Human Freakshow, an orphan whose Tourettic impulses drive him to bark, count, and rip apart language in startling and original ways. Together with three veterans of the St. Vincent's Home for Boys, he works for small-time mobster Frank Minna's limo service cum detective agency. Life without Frank, the charismatic King of Brooklyn, would be unimaginable.

A Great American!
Revisado: 07-19-23
Dan Rather is a man of humble beginnings, who has experienced and shared with the American public most of the major events in our country’s history during the last century. He tells his meaningful stories about these events, very concisely in this audiobook, and he delivers important advise to us all, at the end. Definitely worth the listen!

Back when I started this project, I was thinking what the heck, writing a few short stories will keep me fresh, let me try things I might not try otherwise, act as a sketch book of my story ideas: the funny, the weird, the scary, the sappy, and sometimes all of that mashed up together.

Great Stories!
Revisado: 07-18-23
Very creative, original, and enjoyable! Definitely worth the listen. Since the stories are short, you can finish one on a local car ride or doing a quick errand. Most of the stories have a nice little Twilight Zone-esque twist in the end, and leave you questioning reality.

Revisado: 04-25-23
Well written, well performed, character driven story about how life’s events change us. I read other reviews that didn’t like the book because of the “entitlement “ of some of the characters. Clearly, they didn’t understand the story because the entitlement is important to the characters. The book is very well written and the narrator made the characters become real.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

It’s a long story, 17 hours, but it is a great story telling that draws on the history of the Mississippi Gulf, the generation of the people, and human nature. Don’t expect to finish it in one sitting; savor the world of the story!

Fantastic!!!
Revisado: 12-06-21
We all know the story but the telling of it is a wonderful adventure. Dickens wrote such beautiful prose, and Hugh Grant has the perfect old English gentleman’s voice to bring the words alive. The suspense, the imagery, and of course, the powerful lesson, all make this audiobook one you shouldn’t miss. God bless us, every one!

Historia
It is the early 1980s and fifteen-year-old Libby is obsessed with The Field Guide to the Trees of North America, a gift from her father before he died. She finds solace in “The Kingdom,” a stand of red oak and mountain laurel near her home in suburban Pennsylvania, where she can escape from her family and share menthols with her best friend. One night, while driving home, Libby’s mother, exhausted with the fighting in the backseat, pulls over and orders Libby’s little sister Ellen to walk home. What none of this family knows as they drive off is what will happen next.

Loved everything about this book
Revisado: 09-07-21
….except for the sad feeling I had after I finished it. The story is great, with lots of nostalgia and suspense. The narration was perfect! The story brought me back to both the time and place, and while not a mystery, it was suspenseful and joyful at the same time. It made me sad because of the “last time I ever” situations that we all experience growing up. Enjoy!
