Make the music STOP!

The performances are great and I love everything EXCEPT the endless, distracting background music. The Foley was fine but the music never stops and did nothing to enhance the listening experience. I have read the book many times but the annoying noise prevented me from following the story. Too bad, because this is one of my all time favorite Cherryh novels.

Narrator pleasant but not professional

Although I agree with other reviewers that in another version of this audio book, the voice used by Cornelius Garrett for the Duke of Avon is nasal and takes some getting used to, Sarah Nichols does much worse with characterization and pronunciation. For instance the honorific that Leonie uses for the Duke must be said a hundred times in the book and it was painful to hear her say 'Monsenior' instead of the French, 'Monseigneur'.
