Will scratch the Dresden itch

Figured it would be a fun little story and excited that Butcher was reading it. Unfortunately it a little tough for me. The story was fine but the narration came across, at least to me, as being so dramatic. Simple phrases were just oozing drama. There were also some slight pauses between lines that were a little tough. I think it boils down to the narrator’s way he was pronouncing things very distinctly that gave this feel. I am also jaded. Marsters voice is so smooth. I feel like I’m listening to him tell me a story next to the camp fire. But in the end, it was scratched the Dresden itch and that’s okie dokie.

I enjoy the light-hearted nature of the past books. I just couldn't get into this one as there would be tangents where it would just be a long random string of words describing 'first impressions' of people or their someone's thoughts that just went on and on... and on and on... oh and still going... The first couple of times it was humorous, but it kept happening and got old. I had to walk away. Will look forward to the next book and maybe can come back to this one later.

If you could sum up Guardian in three words, what would they be?
Is that it?
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I really wonder at how long he plans on writing these novels. I feel like just as the plot gets moving, it's done. While I enjoy the series, I leave feeling a little frustrated wondering how long I will have to wait until I get the next few days of action.
