Historia
Titus Crown is the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia. In recent decades, quiet Charon has had only two murders. But after years of working as an FBI agent, Titus knows better than anyone that while his hometown might seem like a land of moonshine, cornbread, and honeysuckle, secrets always fester under the surface. Then a year to the day after Titus’s election, a school teacher is killed by a former student and the student is fatally shot by Titus’s deputies. As Titus investigates the shootings, he unearths terrible crimes.

Loved the story and love the author
Revisado: 05-19-24
This is the 2nd book by SA Cosby that I’ve read and I have loved both of them! The narrator is fantastic- he does each character with a different voice and affect. The story is a tad slow in the very beginning but gets really good! I highly recommend!

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Love how conversational it is
Revisado: 11-24-23
This book is really great and it is so different than the other books I’ve read. It is a murder mystery with the addition of humor, twists, revelations and the breaking of the wall between the author and reader. That is the part that I really like - that the author talks directly to the reader.
I love the performance of the narrator (and that accent!!!❤️). Just a great story.

Historia
Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

What a shocker!
Revisado: 11-18-23
I originally chose this book after reading a review from Stephen King that said it was “unputdownable”. You can’t get a better recommendation than that! I love so many things about this book and the story. I loved the description that the author uses to personify inanimate objects, and he’s really descriptive writing and storytelling. I really felt like I could see everything he described right in front of me . I love all of the references to the old movies, (and I have kept a list and plan on watching all of this at some point) I loved that when I thought it was over in the whole book came to ahead I looked and I had three hours left on my audible book, so I was very confused as to what was coming next and obviously I was pleasantly surprised because I couldn’t imagine how this would wrap up. The only thing negative I have to say is that, although the narrators performance was good, I kept thinking that the main character was an older lady, not a 38 year old woman because her voice was very tinny. But other than that such a great book and I’m looking very forward to AJ Finn’s second novel!

Historia
Jack Diller is just one more struggling actor on the road to nowhere. He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Very Stephen King-esque
Revisado: 08-30-23
A cute story. It really reminded me of Stephen King’s stories.
I loved Ron Pearlman as Hector Bruno but the “California surfer guy”accent of Will Wheaton’s character was a little annoying. But great idea- very timely indeed. This is a fun and easy listen.

This story was painful to get through! The premise seemed good but I just kept waiting for something to happen! It was slow and boring. That’s 10 hours I can’t get back. 😡

Historia
Violet knows that time is a futile healer. When she thinks of her happily married grandfather—a predator lovingly referred to as Papa—the feelings of rage and betrayal still swell. Her younger sister, Lily, just discovered the numbing truth about him. Their mother, Rose? She can’t believe it. Not Papa. Leave it alone, Violet. Focus on the now.

It was OK.
Revisado: 02-15-23
SPOILER ALERT:
I found this story particularly interesting, because I have a pedophile living at the top of my street. Although I am all for vigilante justice, I found the murders committed by Violet to be very hard to believe and a little too neat and tidy. I really dislike week characters, both in books and in real life, so I did not like Rose nor her mother. And I think that the father should’ve been included in on everything. His character was kind of useless and stupid. As I rated it, the book was just OK.

Good but....
Revisado: 02-08-21
Spoiler warning! ...Predictable! I have to say that I really liked the back-and-forth between sugar and Marilee it reminded me so much of the fried green tomatoes story which I loved! HOWEVER, I figured out who the bad guy was right away and I got really annoyed that Marilee was so naïve that she believed Heather was her true friend all along. I mean it was just so absurd bc everything that was done to set her up was so obvious! To believe anybody is that gullible and stupid is well, it’s just not believable!! But I love the Sugar character and I definitely knew that she was a blogger way early on. I thought it was an OK story but it definitely kept my attention even though I knew how it was going to end. The only thing that I was surprised about was Dan‘s death. I was expecting the gala to be a “Carrie” moment for Marilee. So I was happy that I didn’t call that but everything else I pretty much knew.
