Excellent read
Revisado: 10-22-24
I am new to reading robert McCammon so I didn't know what to expect. I loved this book. Each chapter was like reading another story and they were each so good. I loved the characters of the town. I thought the reader did an excellent job. I am tempted to read another book of his but the reviews aren't as good as this.

Historia
A modern American classic and a family saga that spans decades, this is the story of the volatile Tom Wingo, his brilliant but troubled twin sister, Savannah, and the complex and damaging family legacy they share. Moving between the sparkling glamour of New York City and the vanishing beauty of the South Carolina low country, The Prince of Tides is Pat Conroy’s masterwork.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Great read kept my attention the whole way through
Revisado: 08-24-21
I had this in my library for several months, I had read Gone Girl and liked it but didn't love it. I finally got around to reading this and was surprised how much I liked it, I couldn't stop listening to it. I don't want to go in to details; I think maybe that's why I liked it so much because I didn't have a clue what it was about.

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Half good, half bad
Revisado: 08-24-21
I heard so many positive reviews for this I had to read it: There are basically two story lines in this book: The current story line of the two sisters and their relationships was so boring and predictable by the 2nd chapter I took a guess at how the book would evolve and end and I was dead on.Like I said: predicatable. The story line of the mother during the second World War was very interesting and captivating. It was very well written, Not sure if I would recomend being that half of this was so bad?

My favorite book of the year
Revisado: 12-14-20
I picked up this book w/o reading any of the details and was very happy with it. There are so many twists and turns, you stay glued all the way to the end. I loved all of the characters. Several times I could not get out of my car because I couldn't stop listening to it. I ordered 8 hardback copies and this is my Christmas present to most of my family.

Not very good
Revisado: 10-31-19
I'm not sure what I expected but the title Ghost Bride should have tipped me off. It starts off interesting but then goes in to the supernatural and it wasn't very interesting. It reminded me of What Dreams May Come - some people loved that movie but I was not one of them. I almost quit reading this half way in but kept on trudging along and I wish I had listened to my instincts and just given up.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

I liked everything about this book
Revisado: 08-26-19
This book took me by surprise: I am not sure how I came across it but I was so glad I did. The story telling was excellent, they really put you in to that time and place. Both narrators were great - it helped having multiple narrators. The story was so original and interesting, I didn't want it to end. I've been recommending this book to all of my friends.

This was one of Reece’s recommendations so I gave it a try and really liked it. The ending was a little abrupt and I wish it would have given a more thorough ending but otherwise I would highly recommend

I liked everything about this book The main character was interesting and the reader did a good job. There was a surprise in the end that I sort of expected but it still came as somewhat of a surprise.
