Historia
In its heyday, The Golden Hotel was the crown jewel of the hotter-than-hot Catskills vacation scene. For more than sixty years, the Goldman and Weingold families - best friends and business partners - have presided over this glamorous resort which served as a second home for well-heeled guests and celebrities. But the Catskills are not what they used to be - and neither is the relationship between the Goldmans and the Weingolds.

A most fun read!’
Revisado: 10-19-23
This was such a fun and humorous book about family, relationships, and those who become like family. It had characters you genuinely care about and so much heart. I need more books like this!

Historia
Jill and Derick knew a normal life wasn’t possible for them. As a star on the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Jill grew up in front of viewers who were fascinated by her family’s way of life. She was the responsible, second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle’s nineteen kids; always with a baby on her hip and happy to wear the modest ankle-length dresses with throat-high necklines.

Amazing and Real
Revisado: 09-18-23
I have followed the Duggar family for years and have heard many of the same details over and over. While Jill starts a similar story, she inserts new details from her viewpoint. Wow! She is so honest and leaves nothing out that fans have been wondering about for years. Her ongoing struggles trying to reconcile with the Duggars while also have a new and healthy start with her own small family are touching, as you can hear the love for her family woven throughout, but also the pain. She never sounds ungrateful or whiny, but sticks to the truth-the whole truth and acknowledges that few things are black and white, including her relationship with her family, especially Jim Bob. Very interesting and engaging read with new information respectfully and candidly delivered.

Historia
Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Something special!
Revisado: 03-04-23
There is something special about Fannie Flagg’s books. They have a quality that’s hard to describe. They have a “down home” feel, and this book is no exception. I normally go through my audiobooks somewhat slowly, but I couldn’t wait to see how this one played out, so I finished it rather quickly. It had the element of suspense, with several twists and surprises. It isn’t always easy to pull off a suspenseful book in this genre and style that Flagg writes in, but she nailed it . I loved learning the history within it, of the WASP program during WW2, as it isn’t the topic of a lot of fiction books. The present-day story of Sookie is intertwined with the past story of an all-girl filling station and the family behind it. This story has charm and humor, and Flagg aces the performance with the same style.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

Couldn’t stop listening!
Revisado: 08-27-21
I enjoyed this so much! The style in which it was written kept me guessing. So many different twists! I loved that each chapter switched narrators, AND that there were different performers for each one. They were all great; my favorite was probably Johnno. Definitely a good choice to listen to rather than read. Also a little bit shorter of an audiobook.

Historia
Sue Grafton's X: Perhaps her darkest and most chilling novel, it features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no traces of his crimes. Once again breaking the rules and establishing new paths, Grafton wastes little time identifying this sociopath. The test is whether Kinsey can prove her case against him before she becomes his next victim.

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 07-15-21
I have read a few from this series, and enjoyed them. This is my first of the audiobooks from the series. It’s a good story. The narrator did a great job with different inflections and voices for different characters. However, it did bother me a bit that Kinsey is supposed to be 38, but the narrator sounds like a 60 year old smoker.
