Historia
During the year 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest to be a giant narwhal. The United States government assembles an expedition in New York City to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist and narrator of the story, who happens to be in New York at the time, receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition which he accepts. Canadian whaler and master harpoonist Ned Land and Aronnax's faithful servant Conseil are also brought aboard.

Wonderful Story and Telling
Revisado: 01-19-23
I read an abridged version of this classic in sixth grade and wanted to test if it held up to memory. Not only is the story as amazing as I remember, but it lends itself better as an audio book as it’s already in first person. The narrator did a great job adding emotion to even the dryer paragraphs, and I liked how he changed accents to differentiate characters. If you enjoy fantasy or steampunk, you will appreciate reading the progenitor of the genres.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Storyline is bonkers
Revisado: 01-03-23
This is a candy book, nothing substantial to it but enjoyable to consume. Some plot lines got so ridiculous that I had to laugh them off. Other misdirections were interesting and genuinely surprised me. Overall, good book to listen in airports, on long car trips, and while doing chores.

Historia
The Earth lies in ruins in the aftermath of an extraterrestrial invasion, the land devastated by a desperate war with no winners between mankind and a race of vicious, intelligent creatures. The seas are drying up while the atmosphere corrodes and slowly cooks any life remaining on the now desolate rock. Food is scarce, trust even more so, and the only people left alive all have done horrific things to stay that way.

Riveting to the very end!!

I have read 30 post apocalyptic books over the last year. Events of 2020 Call a greater relevance to this genre for me. This book was my favorite. The narrator did a excellent job. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
