Historia
Few American icons provoke more enduring fascination than Charles Lindbergh - renowned for his one-man transatlantic flight in 1927, remembered for the sorrow surrounding the kidnapping and death of his firstborn son in 1932, and reviled by many for his opposition to America's entry into World War II.

Wow! I learned way more about this historical figure, than I thought I would. He and the Wright Brothers made my life married to a pilot possible for which I am eternally grateful for.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Listened to twice
Revisado: 08-18-22
I listened to this once on a drive from CO to IA, but since I fell asleep. I recently listened to it again.
I certainly found it entertaining, but also felt as though there is an important message about life in it. Well done Matthew!

Historia
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

This was a touching story about the family and difficulties of being in the public eye. it was easy to listen to with the voice of her daughter telling the story.

Historia
True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. It would be perfect, if not for the fact that decades earlier, at this very house, two people were murdered in cold blood and a girl disappeared without a trace.

I grew up in Iowa
Revisado: 05-26-22
I like the characters grew up in Iowa. Nothing as unspeakable evil as this story happened to me there, but I don't go back very often as I should. My siblings, mother and extended family are all cross by. I loved this story and being familiar with the area it made it even more believable. I will recommend this book to others.

It is 1942 and Eva Adami has boarded a train to Auschwitz. Barely able to breathe due to the press of bodies and exhausted from standing up for two days, she can think only of her longed-for reunion with her husband Michal, who was sent there six months earlier. But when Eva arrives at Auschwitz, there is no sign of Michal and the stark reality of the camp comes crashing down upon her. As she lies heartbroken and shivering on a thin mattress, her head shaved by rough hands, she hears a whisper. Her bunkmate, Sofie, is reaching out her hand....

I loved this book the characters were well formed and like able. Although this was a work of fiction, the horrors the Jewish people went through were not. I may have to listen all over again. It was our book club book this month.

Historia
Zoe knows that it wasn't really her fault. Of course it wasn't. But if she'd just grasped harder, run faster, lunged quicker, she might have saved him. And Edward doesn't really blame her, though his bitter words at the time still haunt her, and he can no more take them back than she can halt the car that killed their son. Two years on, every day is a tragedy. Edward knows they should take healing steps together, but he's tired of being shut out. For Zoe, it just seems easier to let grief lead the way.

Historia
The morning of January 12, 1888, was unusually mild, following a punishing cold spell. It was warm enough for the homesteaders of the Dakota Territory to venture out again and for their children to return to school without their heavy coats - leaving them unprepared when disaster struck. At the hour when most prairie schools were letting out for the day, a terrifying, fast-moving blizzard blew in without warning. Schoolteachers as young as 16 were suddenly faced with life-and-death decisions.

Melanie Benjamin has done it again!
Revisado: 08-18-21
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the facts in this account. I especially enjoyed that the author created the main characters on people and accounts from history. I live in an area which very well could have been in this blizzard, eastern CO which is a desert climate. I hope the author is not right about the aquifers drying up, however that statement given at the end of the book would probably turned me off a little.

For much of her life, Anne Morrow, the shy daughter of the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, has stood in the shadows of those around her, including her millionaire father and vibrant older sister, who often steals the spotlight. Then Anne, a college senior with hidden literary aspirations, travels to Mexico City to spend Christmas with her family. There she meets Colonel Charles Lindbergh, fresh off his celebrated 1927 solo flight across the Atlantic. Enthralled by Charles’s assurance and fame, Anne is certain the celebrated aviator has scarcely noticed her. But she is wrong.

Revisado: 07-31-21
I really enjoyed this book. The reader was great and kept you as the listener engaged. I am married to a pilot so I wanted to know more about the Lindbergh 's and since I am not much for nonfiction I felt this would be a great way to do that. I may even listen to this one again someday.
