Historia
In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

This story is depressing - the reader is excellent, but the subject matter is just sad…I only made it to chapter 4

My favorite of the trilogy
Revisado: 03-31-13
This is the third book that I've listened to and I enjoyed this one the most. The story continues with a very postive Christian message with a historical narrative that is biblically based and accurate. I enjoyed the performance.

Required reading for engaged couples!
Revisado: 06-21-12
What made the experience of listening to The Vow the most enjoyable?
I had heard about the movie, but wanted to read the original story before seeing the movie. I am disappointed that the "Hollywood" version of the movie doesn't tell the TRUTH about how important Kim and Krickitt's faith and belief in God helped them to get thru this incredible, yet miraculous 7 year period following Krickitt's severe head injury. This story is ALL about FAITH, BELIEF, promise, comittment, etc...how can Hollywood leave that out?
What did you like best about this story?
The way the extended families helped out and supported this newly married couple.
What does John McLain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
John McLain is an excellent reader. He doesn't put too much drama into his voice in the annoying way that some readers do. The volume stays constant, so this is a wonderful for listening to in a car while driving.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Until DEATH do we part!
Any additional comments?
When people VOW at a marriage ceremony to LOVE, in sickness and in health, until death do we part - they really don't know what they are comitting to and what those VOWS might really mean. This couple stayed together, thru sickness and health after just a few weeks of marriage. The MOVIE doesn't lend justice to the part this couple's faith and trust in GOD played in their struggle. Hopefully, the Movie will lead people to reading the true story or listening to it on this audio book.

Historia
Four men, one calling: to serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they’re quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark. They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to drift....

A bit "shallow" and predictable
Revisado: 05-07-12
What disappointed you about Courageous?
the "Christian LIGHT" philosophy....very predictable and not much spiritual depth.
Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?
probably not.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Good narrator, just didn't have much of a story to work with.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The message of Father's taking responsibility, MEN BEING MEN and guiding their families to spiritual truth is good, but it's all about what GOD can do for ME, no deep Christian teaching. Very "protestant" - in theology.
Any additional comments?
Nice hopeful story - shallow theology, without substance. This is a "JESUS LOVES ME" kind of book for beginners. Prayer gets the characters thru some tough times. Church is all about fellowship and friends, but not about giving back to GOD. The men are there to guide and help the younger men and that's a good message. The action of publicly taking responsibility in an oath type of ceremony is fine and full of emotion if your faith is based on emotions and social peer group.

I love this narrator!
Revisado: 05-07-12
Would you consider the audio edition of West with the Night to be better than the print version?
I love listening to this kind of story. The author is excellent at discribing the landscape, charactors and animals of Africa.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This is a story about Beryl Markham, the author.
What does Julie Harris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent Narrator - one of my favorite voices on Audible.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No - best if absorbed in small chunks.
Any additional comments?
Very enjoyable story. If you are a PETA person, you won't appreciate the fact that the author was a pilot for Elephant hunters when it was legal in Africa. The story jumps around a bit, so you don't get a feel for the author's age and I lost track of dates, so a bit hard to follow.

Historia
Perhaps no one but Kay Redfield Jamison---who combines the acute perceptions of a psychologist with writerly elegance and passion---could bring such a delicate touch to the subject of losing a spouse to cancer. In spare and at times strikingly lyrical prose, Jamison looks back at her relationship with her husband, Richard Wyatt, a renowned scientist who battled severe dyslexia to become one of the foremost experts on schizophrenia.
