Great story, Meh ending

the story was exciting and full of humour and adventure. But the ending was just Meh. was hoping for something more grand to tie in the original story better...

Is the Tomb of Horrors in this book?
Revisado: 03-14-20
Obviously, it is. But, the book is basically broken up into three parts and the characters enter the Tomb in the last third of the book.
The characters are meh at best. I didn't care if any of them lived or died honestly. they were flat, except for the Paladin. he does have a good, although very predictable, pay off at the end. But I still didn't care if he lived or died. No one else has a backstory and they are all flat NPC's. So what could possibly take up the first two thirds of the book? this:
PALADIN: boo hoo im a bad person and no one will understand why so i wont say anything (gets drunk alot)
BAD GUYS: we will rule the world
GOOD GUYS: we must get the riches for our kingdom salvation
BULLYWUGS: um..."San Dimas High School football rules.” (yes bullywugs are a major part of Tomb of Horros...bullywugs)

just worse and worse..
Revisado: 03-14-20
the story and World are not bad. the Main 2 characters and their interactions are what just kill the series. One is constantly whinny, and the other is EXTREMELY condescending and arrogant. This works if the MC's are bad guys or are just people you are not supposed to like. This is not the case as it is obvious the author wants to to like and root for these two.
Their interactions are uncomfortable at best, like at a bad comic show or a teenager who thinks he is funny.
But the world, the concept are pretty good as you can put yourself into the world and really get into the book. Background characters are pretty good and add depth to the story, as you either understand their plight jubilation. However, any time you start to like a background character, the author kills them off and drives more awkward interactions between Rocky, and Sella down tour your throat.
i will not continue the series as long as these two are involved. If however he does start up a side series with the Floridians, then I will be into it as long as there is no mention of Rocky and Sella foolishness...

Historia
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

the MC is way too OP at times.
Revisado: 12-15-19
i het that MC are supposed to be OP but it is at the point that it is a GOD. even able to outthink and defeat a godlike being when supposedly the MC is fairly low level.

this is a minus 4 star book..
Revisado: 04-24-18
The most memorable thing about this book is how bad and boring it is.
1. There is nothing exciting about any of the quests.
2. there is NO payoff for any quest
3. the two main women are HUGE drama queens
4. there is a rape scene (woman hollars rape then "hero" steps in)where afterword the "hero" blames the women, basically saying they were asking for it the way they were dressed
5. the protaganist of the story is that a woman wanted the "hero" to sleep with her but since he declined she wanted vengence...um, yeah.
6. the "hero's" are BORING and overly judgemental.

wished this was the end
Revisado: 01-21-18
the series was his best i thought. the Beth thing dragged on about 5 books too long but once Tufo thinks of an antogonist he is unwilling to let it go no matter how ridiculous it gets.
i Wished he ended the series with this book instead of a horrible cliffhanger that will destroy the series. i stopped reading all his other series because they all kept getrimg more and more ludicrous. I believe he should stop a series after 4 or 5 books then start something new so we dont get a repeat of Beth for 7+ books restating "i love you Mike, im going to kill you Mike...etc"

so disappointingly bad...
Revisado: 12-14-17
This had to be written by a fan boy or Mark Tufo has lost it...there are so many plot holes and bad mashups, the whole story is just non-sense. I think he was just going for shock value as the story line, characters and plot just jumbled and was hard to follow. very little explanations and even they didnt make sense when one was thrown out to somehow justify what the heck was going on. Definately will not continue with this series..

his worst book by far
Revisado: 07-16-17
Very poorly written. if you are going to include the military, NSA, and a Foreign hostile county in your book, maybe you should at least have some idea how those organizations actually work. very obvious the author has no idea how the military nor how weapons work. he should stick to fantasy novels or futuristic space novels as he clearly has no understanding how realism works. Im not sure if the book was supposed to be suspenseful, funny, scify, or what. it was just some random crap thrown together. dont bother with this book. his others are much better, and his editor should be fired for allowing this horrific "novel" to be published.

blah..by far worst book he has written.
Revisado: 12-06-16
this series has gotten pathetic. Nothing happens and the story does not progress. Humans are dumb and pathetic and they created an Ai race that wants to destory all humans. Oh this was stated in the second book? yeah well that is what is going on. and this is book 4 or 5 now? hard to keep track when it is the same exact story and sequence and pretty much the same characters, just some of them have different names. dont bother with this book. if you want to see where the story goes, probably he will finish in about 3 or 4 more useless novels.

Revisado: 07-12-15
Any additional comments?
These Stories are hilarious. A definite read for anyone who has every enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons or any such role playing game. The characters will remind you of a at least a few of those you played with if not yourself at times...Must read!!
There are 6 Stories ("D6" duh) and they would take place after the first Creatures and Caverns novel, or sometime during the middle of the Second Creatures and caverns novel. They are not in any type of succession just stupid funny shorts about how these guys manage to eek out a living from day to day in the realms if they had become stuck there forever.
