Historia
The lives of Leonardo da Vinci, Henry VIII, and Queen Victoria fill bookshelves and fascinate scholars all over the world. But little attention is given to the ferret who posed for the Renaissance master, the servant who oversaw the Tudor’s toilet time, or the famous horse who thrilled the miserable old monarch. These supporting cast members have been waiting in the wings for too long, and Adrian Bliss thinks it’s high time they join their glory-hogging contemporaries in the spotlight. Fortunately, now they can.

The author is a gifted storyteller, and by the end of this audio book, I definitely wanted more. Don't leave reviews, but didn't hesitate call this one out to others who are looking for fun history.

Here for the first time, in rich human, political, and scientific detail, is the complete story of how the bomb was developed, from the turn-of-the-century discovery of the vast energy locked inside the atom to the dropping of the first bombs on Japan. Few great discoveries have evolved so swiftly - or have been so misunderstood. From the theoretical discussions of nuclear energy to the bright glare of Trinity, there was a span of hardly more than 25 years.

Good stuff
Revisado: 08-08-17
Well written and engaging narration - however the content, being comprised of uncommon words, lends itself more readily to the page. Still a great listen. The narrator is superb and faithfully portrays the spirit of the work.

Narration is abysmal.
Revisado: 04-27-17
Couldn't give the content it's due, I'm afraid. The narration was so poor and jarringly without cadence that I gave up during the first chapter.

Historia
This is the dramatic story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep. With the narrative power of fiction, this is a harrowing ride through the fire-filled skies over Berlin, Hanover, and Dresden. Fighting at twenty-five thousand feet in thin, freezing air no warriors had encountered before, bomber crews battled new kinds of assaults on body and mind. Air combat was deadly but intermittent: periods of inactivity and anxiety were followed by short bursts of fire and fear.

Great story about a seldom explored but extremely important front in WW2: the battle for the skies over Europe and the heavy toll it took in lives both of the air crews and the civilians on the ground. Loop

Revisado: 10-28-15
Great content like all of the Einstein series... But Mr. Hoye really brings out the author's sense of humor. The other narrator used for the Einstein vooks makes it a bit wet-lipped and awkward. My $0.02.

overall, a worthwhile listen. Did you know there is a carbon structure that is even harder than diamond? I did, but it is still interesting to hear about it from the perspective of a materials scientist. Off you go then.

Great Book, Great Narration.
Revisado: 12-29-14
With the aforementioned mispronunciations aside (so what, we know what he meant), the narrator does an excellent job conveying the subject matter, which itself is well-crafted. I actually listened to this book twice in a row to make sure I didn't miss anything. Some of the material is conceptual, i.e., reactor design, so don't feel bad if you have to rewind now and again to gain adequate context. If the title intrigues you, you will not be disappointed.
