Historia
In the late 1960s, riding the crest of the counterculture movement, Cea's family left a comfortable existence in California to live off the land in the Canadian wilderness. But unlike most commune dwellers of the time, the Persons weren't trying to build a new society - they wanted to escape civilization altogether. Led by Cea's grandfather Dick, they lived a pot-smoking, free-loving, clothing-optional life under a canvas tipi without running water, electricity, or heat for the bitter winters.

Couldn’t stop listening!
Revisado: 11-12-23
Cea did an amazing job, telling her story in a chronological order but yet kept it constantly mysterious on how each situation would turn out. Telling further details at the end of the story ended up answering a lot of questions, but would not have been appropriate to tell right up front. The Voice and cadence of Cea herself, was perfect for the story. Don’t pass this one up, you’ll get hooked right away.

Page turner
Revisado: 06-26-22
I honestly could not stop listening to this story. There were so many facets and each one was a mystery that had to be solved. Each character had a story that you could feel and be a part of. I was thinking it was going to be set during WW2 but it all takes place post war. I highly recommend this book.

Forgotten History Exposed!
Revisado: 01-07-21
Well written, interesting story, historical truths-this book had it all. I felt as if I was in the story. It is heart wrenching to think what these Home Children went through. Shows what happens when the government gets involved in the care of the weakest in our society. It can only be called "child abuse." Through a fiction cast of characters you are able to follow their lives, some to adulthood, to see how it affects them for the rest of their lives. Highly recommend.

Very timely can apply today
Revisado: 11-02-20
How many times have you asked, how did this get out of control? Why did Germans comply so easily? Because Jennifer Chiaverini wrote this story in chronological order with few flash backs, you see starting as early as 1929 the profession of a country ripe for mad dictator to control a population of seemingly good people. Some of the characters were real & their story needed to be told.

What is "the big lie" of the Democratic Party? That conservatives - and President Donald Trump in particular - are fascists. Nazis, even. In a typical comment, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow says the Trump era is reminiscent of "what it was like when Hitler first became chancellor." But in fact, this audacious lie is a complete inversion of the truth. Yes, there is a fascist threat in America - but that threat is from the Left and the Democratic Party.

Revisado: 10-06-20
It is pretty much a page turner there’s so many interesting and unknown facts that most people don’t know about. I can’t recommend this book enough if you enjoy history, if you enjoy learning true facts, and if you truly want to know why our country ended up the way it is now, then read this book.

When Hazel is given the chance to parachute into Nazi-occupied France, she seizes the opportunity to do more for the British war effort than file paperwork. Alongside her childhood friend, French-born Rose, she quickly rises up the ranks of the freedom fighters. For Rose, the Resistance is a link to her late husband, and a way to move forward without him. What starts out as helping downed airmen becomes a bigger cause when they meet Sophia, a German escapee and fierce critic of Hitler who is wanted by the Gestapo.

Has everything, love, intrigue, drama, historical
Revisado: 05-09-19
This book contains everything I like in a book. It was about three young ladies who fought in the French Resistance but each story was completely different. The author was clear on each character so you don't get lost and confused. I love reading about WW2 but this book offered something unique. For example, I had no idea women were recruited in England to be sent to France to join the resistance. I never really understood what the resistance did to make a difference, this book gave me a interesting view of types of assignments and how they were organized in cells.
Well, you are pretty much at the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. I had to listen every second, even brushing my teeth at night!

Historia
A brilliant literary debut, inspired by a true story: the final days of a young woman accused of murder in Iceland in 1829. Set against Iceland's stark landscape, Hannah Kent brings to vivid life the story of Agnes, who, charged with the brutal murder of her former master, is sent to an isolated farm to await execution. Horrified at the prospect of housing a convicted murderer, the family at first avoids Agnes. Only Tóti, a priest Agnes has mysteriously chosen to be her spiritual guardian, seeks to understand her.

Fascinating novel based on a true story. Agnes made you love and sympathize her. Interesting to learn about a place seldom written about. Can’t wait for the movie to come out, Jennifer Lawrence is perfect to play Agnes.

Surprisingly Amazing!
Revisado: 01-15-19
Wow!?what a page turner!
I would have never purchased this book but did so for my daughter. It sat in my library but was highly recommended so decided to give it a try. The movie certainly did not give justice to this imaginative story that was frankly, spell bounding! I loved how it put me back into the 70s and 80s, I was in my 30s and 40s but related to what my children considered their world. But, there was so much more, a love story, the meaning of friendship, good over evil, mystery, imagination, really this story had it all!
I usually NEVER review books but this one deserved a highly praised recommendation.

Historia
To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him.

Fascinating insight!
Revisado: 10-20-18
Yes, the little boys voice did you get annoying after a while but it did you have Authenticity to what things look from the eyes of a child. I think the author did an amazing job thinking of little details that a child would see if that room was the only thing he ever saw. It was also fun to see how he reacted to the outside world after he was out. If anything, it makes you grateful for what we have. You have to think what if this was all taken away?
