I think this is a good book with an interesting and unique plot, however the narration is like fingernails on a chalk board for me. The pitch and balance is off. I will return this and buy the physical book.

I really like this story. A young woman who has been brainwashed by her own mother to believe she is below average in all aspects of life only to discover she is extraordinary. Ms. Robert's weaves the threads of the story. the people, the places, and the animals into a well crafted web. I saw some reviews dismissing the plot. But, if you buy a book about magical occurrences, how do you complain about magic in the story? Beats me! It's like buying a Lee Child's Reacher story and complaining about the violence.

Really liked the story, but... The narrator

I have read all the Pendergast books. Usually I have to pace myself so that I don't gobble them up in one day. The story in this edition was very good, as expected, but the narrator was awful!!! Gone are the melodious voice of Agent Pendergast, and we have the harsh sounds emitted by Constance making her sound like an old New England fish wife. I hated the voices. Only the promise of a Pendergast mystery enabled me to finish this book. In the future, if I see Mr.DeMeritt's name as narrator, I will buy the printed book.

Very good story, although I concluded early on that the villan was a step sibling, the path was kept interesting.Exceptional narrative. Ms. Lavoy always pleases.

I really like this story.

This was a really unique story. Very enjoyable and believable. What does happen when a lifetime appointee is in limbo; neither live nor dead? How long can the limbo last? for decades? While the narrator was not horrible, she didn't do justice to the tale. Inflections were off, and at times it seemed as if she was reading the words for the first time. ( surely she practiced??)

Love the book, Hated the female narrator

I Really liked this book. Ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances, and adjusting to become more. I HATED the female narrator. She showed no sense of the action, as if she was an automaton, just mouthing the words. Reading the book would have made it better I believe.

Good story, but something was off.

I have read all the books in this series. I can't define my issue with this one, but it just didn't hit me right. All the elements are there, but somehow they didn't mesh exactly right. I like the new characters, but the triangle, ( Joe, Ranger, Stephanie ) is getting worn.

I really liked this story.

A really good and somewhat unique tale. The narration though left a great deal to desire. The plot was solid, characters well developed, all spoiled by the narrator. Many times I found myself rewinding to understand what had been said. I think I will read the rest of the series instead of listening.
