Historia
Gun Meister Online is a recently released virtual-reality combat simulator. Players assume the role of a Meister; fighting in matches and ranking up into higher divisions. Within the game, weapons take on human shape. These NPC's use a new Dynamic Distributed Personality System recently implemented, and many are excited by how life-like the AI characters are becoming. Charlie has only just begun to play, and he struggles to grow as a Meister. At the same time, he starts to take charge of his real-life outside.

A gunpocalypse to end all things
- De LITRPG Audiobook Reviews en 07-15-18
Great performance, good story
Revisado: 07-03-19
While Gun Meister Online starts out great, Barnett derails the story a bit. The main character in 'the game' Gun Meister Online, not Charlie and that's the main struggle. Subplots are left unresolved and long stretches are about action scenes and combat rather than character development. This might sound harsh, but it was a bit grating for such a long audiobook.
Barnett is a brilliant writer of scenes and voices of characters though. The descriptions are flavourful and even the sex scenes are tasteful.
4/5 for story.
The performance is brilliant though. Ellicott, James, and Hays are all excellent and really bring the flair to this story. Without them, I wouldn't have picked this up.
5/5 for performance.
Total 4.5/5 rounded up to 5/5.

Jimmy O. Yang is a stand-up comedian, film and TV actor and fan favorite as the character Jian Yang from the popular HBO series Silicon Valley. In How to American, he shares his story of growing up as a Chinese immigrant who pursued a Hollywood career against the wishes of his parents: Yang arrived in Los Angeles from Hong Kong at age 13, learned English by watching BET's Rap City for three hours a day, and worked as a strip club DJ while pursuing his comedy career.

Jimmy brings his book to life
Revisado: 07-01-19
I absolutely loved this audiobook. Some narrators just narrate, but Jimmy O. Yang tells his story and adds his flair. He goes beyond just reading the words aloud from the page, and adds timing, precision and comedy as only a skilled comedian would do. Favourite moment? When Jimmy reads the copyright notice. He even sneaks in a joke there! Mindblowing! If you like comedy books or autobiographical books of comedians and actors, this should be high on your wishlist.

“I hate cats more than any on the planet,” Grandpa always told us. “A dog you can take hunting and a moose you can shoot, but a cat only gets in the way and barfs on your carpet in the nighttime, most usually in the very spot that you step on first thing in the morning with your bare feet - and then you are left walking around the whole day long smelling of cat-barfed-on-footprints.”

Really great story. I listened to it on my commute and I was absolutely delighted. Vernon writes in a straightforward voice and Dysart manages to really capture the heart of the story.

In fact, Hedge is not human at all, but a plant sent by the council of plants and the plant of ultimate knowing to observe humanity and determine whether or not humanity is a threat to the universe.

Fun, quick but doesn't scratch the itch
Revisado: 03-20-19
Preface: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review
While I enjoyed this book, the narration was especially good, I found it somewhat lacking. It's a rather short listen and it feels like it set up for other plotlines and would have benefitted from being a longer book. The pacing feels a bit rushed, where I think it would have been beneficial for the characters to grow more slowly, and for us to actually care about them.
Overall, it's a good audiobook. I'd recommend it.

Historia
While he's not quite a household name, most people would consider H. Jon Benjamin, the voice-actor star of Archer and Bob's Burgers (and a sentient can of mixed vegetables in 2015's Wet Hot American Summer) a comedy show business success. But he'd like to remind everyone that as great as success can be, failure is also an option. In a hilarious, self-deprecating memoir, Jon lays out some of his many failures in all areas of life, from Work ("wherein I'm unable to deliver a sizzling fajita") to Family ("wherein a trip to PF Chang's fractures a family").

Historia
"The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is the original title of a novel written by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson that was first published in 1886. It is about a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll and the misanthropic Edward Hyde. The novella's impact is such that it has become a part of the language, with the phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" coming to mean a person who is vastly different in moral character from one situation to the next.

Excellent but...
Revisado: 03-10-19
Some times a story lends itself to being narrated in an audiobook. Sadly, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde was not this type of story (for me at least). Without spoiling too much, an important part of the story is the "embedded stories", think of a letter within a story. These sort of things need to be read carefully. I opted to read along with the audiobook which made it brilliant. So if you can do that, or if you'd just prefer an audiobook, get this. However, I'd rather recommend getting the actual book. The narrator was good. The story was great. Highly recommended.

Historia
There comes a time in every sitcom actress’ life when she is faced with the prospect of writing a book. When Ellie Kemper’s number was up, she was ready. Contagiously cheerful, predictably wholesome, and mostly inspiring except for one essay about her husband’s feet, My Squirrel Days is a funny, freewheeling tour of Ellie’s life - from growing up in suburban St. Louis with a vivid imagination and a crush on David Letterman to moving to Los Angeles and accidentally falling on Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Revisado: 03-08-19
If you like Ellie Kemper, you'll certainly like this book. Her narration of the book is brilliant and brings it to live. As all humour and comedy, the timing and voicing of jokes needs to be perfectly balanced, and Kemper delivers.

Excellence performance of a classic
Revisado: 02-22-19
BJ. Harrison does a terrific job narrating this old classic. His voices are nicely varied and gets you in a really comfy atmosphere. I'm hooked on his narrating! 5 stars without a doubt. The source material however is not my favourite thing. I find the first one to be the superior book, as it's more filled with wonder. The linearity of Through the Looking Glass is certainly a weakness. However, it's still a great story by all means and deserves a 4 star rating.

In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Great narrator, lacking story
Revisado: 11-29-18
At times the story is a slug. The pacing is all over the place. The author most likely intended to have small timeskips to keep things interesting, but the atmosphere was rarely maintained for long. It's a fun story though, and Jeff Hays is as always phenomenal.

Funny LITRPG with a brilliant narrator
Revisado: 11-21-18
If you liked the previous installments, you'll enjoy Vol 3 as well. As always, Jeff Hays delivers a stunning performance with a magnificent range and passionate narration. The combination of Iliev's writing and Hays' narration becomes more than the sum of its parts. I'm usually not into LITRPG books, but this is simply wondrous.
Don't expect high culture literature, don't expect art, but expect to laugh. It's funny, it's well-narrated and it's a good LITRPG.
