Intricate, well developed characters & plot
Revisado: 03-29-25
Initially I had to learn how to like listening to a 3rd person narrator but after that loved the characters. It took a more empathetic & self reflective skillset to identify with the characters and wait for this series to unfold. The characters are rich & have realistic evolving emotions in response to some extremely tricky plot twists. It left me excited to read the next book (3rd & last in the series). Elan Hilderbrand knows how to hold the reader's interest through plot & by developing rich characters. I also appreciate that there are no overly graphic sex scenes (in ybe presence if actual sex scenes) nor explicit foul language. That is not easy to find in combination with stories of modern romance. Elan gets it done successfully every time with plenty of ardor. Highly recommend this entertaining & sometimes heart breaking series.

Multiple twisting plots
Revisado: 03-20-25
Likes: story line & creativity. Love the 2 main characters, the conflicts, the newer characters, the humor, interpersonal struggles.
Dislikes: omg the narrator destroys any masculine or romantic qualities of the male lead by using a high pitched English accented voice. He sounds exactly like Tiny Tim from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". I keep waiting for him to say, "God bless us, everyone!" It is terribly difficult to take the amorous scenes very seriously with this in mind. She does such a great job on everyone else & the timing and intonations. The voice she gives to Bones just absolutely ruins the audiobook at times and it takes me a minute to realize this voice is supposed to belong to Bones. But the stories are entertaining enough to keep me in the series. I am one of those people who never enjoyed this genre before this one so that's saying something.

Good plot held interest didn't care for graphic sex depictions but thats the nature of this genre. Characters all interesting & some over the top fairy god-mothers but great for rom com. The funny parts were clever and made me laugh out loud.

Specific nutrition and timing of nutrition and type of training to change your menopause experience
Revisado: 08-06-24
Great pdf attachments. Although somewhat geared to the endurance athlete, the principles of nutrition macros & timing and specific type of training is clearly addressed. These changes can be made by anyone to improve their menopausal body composition. Real life coached makeover examples are included. Best of all- it’s actionable based on the science of women’s physiology-not men-which is very different. I stopped the long intermittent fasting so highly proclaimed for so long and my brain fog and fatigue was the first thing to vanish- almost instantly. Have more energy to reach the thresholds needed for triggering recomp.

Because most nutrition products and training plans are designed for men, it's no wonder that so many female athletes struggle to reach their full potential. ROAR is a comprehensive, physiology-based nutrition and training guide specifically designed for active women. This book teaches you everything you need to know to adapt your nutrition, hydration, and training to your unique physiology so you can work with, rather than against, your female physiology.

Enjoyed the SAR scenarios
Revisado: 04-06-24
Enjoyed the SAR aspects, enjoyed the Christian transformative experiences, seemed somewhat superficial at times regarding the criminal investigation process and character development but there are so many layers going on it makes sense they all can’t be completely developed. Engaging story line and characters made even better by the inclusion of the dogs. Hope that future series will more fully develop some of the characters that come off a bit “flat”. Perhaps the narration also lends to this aspect although still well done. Not a lot of intonation changes for different characters thus less of a performance and more a narration at times.

Humerus interactions between the usual suspects & some new characters.
Revisado: 02-17-24
Enjoyed the crazy antics of crazy characters always getting themselves in and out of trouble beneath the radar of “the law”. It’s nice to see (within the series) Billy Don & Red transform from a characterization of poaching rednecks into young men with redeeming qualities (who are still poaching and having redneck moments). They have collected some life experiences like the rest of us yet handle them in unconventional ways which are often amusing. We get to see a new romance developing for Phil Colby (the rancher) and no appearance of Marlin (the game warden) in this story. There are plenty of amusing and dangerous antics in this story. It is well told and changes scenes in a way that keeps it fluid and entertaining. I love Ben Rehder’s writing. In the best of passages It feels like a wonderful creation mashup featuring C.J. Box and Carl Hiaasen.
Johnny Peppers has been a great narrator for this series but at times had a little more difficulty distinguishing between some of the female voices and their male counterparts during conversations (Didn’t seem like any difference in the vocal intonations during some of this listen). Wasn’t enough to detract from the story.
Looking forward to the next Blanco County adventure!

Good writing but not my jam
Revisado: 02-15-24
Well written plot and characters introduced as a base for starting the series. I just would have preferred more of a personal confrontation rather than a cartel of characters to bring in the bad (so much bad!).With so many bullets missing so many people and their horses it became less believable for me. I was cheering for the good guys but there was little mystique… Mostly tales about physical confrontation and how they get won. We get to see a bad ass protagonist with a tender heart take shape. I found the female characters underdeveloped & a little “flat” thus not entirely believable. Served to be entertaining but did not engage me.

Great plot development starring canines!
Revisado: 01-23-24
Love the appearance of more than one dog in starring roles. The development of the main characters relationship is fun to see in this 2nd book. There are plenty of plot twists and more than enough horrible, evil characters that we are happy to see brought to justice just when you think it can’t be done. Unfortunately some of the innocent are hurt but we get to see a happy ending. I like the narrator’s unique vocal qualities but really need more of a differentiation in tonality, accent or speech rhythm to identify the characters sometimes. At times the male character sound alike. Overall a very entertaining and unique series. I look forward to hearing more from this author.
