Ok yet cliche. Narration is monotone.
Revisado: 04-21-25
The story has legs but everything drips with cliches. It's hard to believe the narrator is an actor. He sucks the life out of the story. Everyone sounds the same, bland. Barely worth the credit.

Historia
Chase had it all planned out. Do a little time in one of the emperor's jails, say a four-year stretch, for getting rid of some trash that no one would miss, and when he got out, the path to leadership would be wide open. Unfortunately, his bastard of a father, the same one who left his mother to die in poverty and him to run wild on the streets, took an interest. Seeing him sitting on the bench when his case went to court was a shock. But not as big a shock as being sentenced to ten years in the Imperial Navy.

Decent story, mediocre narration.
Revisado: 01-23-25
The story is worth a credit. However the narration is not. He is an ok reader but lacks any skill in voice variation for characters. What bothered me the most was the horrible editing. It constantly breaks the timing and makes it sound like hes reading individual syllables and words instead of the whole sentence to make it flow.
If you can tolerate the narration then it's worth a credit.

Meh. Lack luster.
Revisado: 10-28-24
It would be ok for a high school creative writing class but hardly prime time. The narrator is fair but sounds "juicy". Too much saliva? If you are writing a book about a blacksmith, learn the bare minimum about your subject.

Historia
Captain Axel Finn has spent his life running salvage missions with an alien crew and their war bot. This motley group has found refuge on his ship from their own tumultuous pasts. But little do any of them know, beneath his gentle demeanor, their steadfast captain is far from the peace following, adventure seeking giant of a man they all love. His pacifist ethos meant to safeguard them has edged them to the brink of financial ruin and drawn dangerous enemies.

Forced with too many clices.
Revisado: 05-23-24
Forced drama and suspense manufactured via ridiculous choices and actions by characters. It's very hard to believe this is a NYT best selling author. The story telling is on par with high school creative writing class. I would skip it and will not be continuing the series.

Before that can happen, a chance encounter whisks Arthur and Brixaby away to a place they never thought possible: A new dragon hive outside the kingdom. Meh. It's ok.
Revisado: 03-26-24
It's just ok. Feels like someone's first attempt at writing. I've listened to far worse but a whole lot better as well. The theme and plot or ok but the dragons are far too soft. The writing needs more teeth and the magic system has decent bones but needs refinement. It's a 3.5 so I rounded up to 4.

Joe’s candidacy was successful beyond his wildest dreams. Between driving the elves out of dwarven sovereign territory, utterly destroying an army of thousands, and using resources he could have used for himself to bring back the fallen on his own side...his reputation begins to precede him once more. The human was so successful that many people even within the dwarven faction have decided that they need to step forward to stop him. Realizing that he’s been in the public eye too long, Joe decides that it’s time to step out of fighting the war.

I just can't stomach it.
Revisado: 06-20-23
I forgot how much I hated the narration of previous books in this series. I love Travis, normally. However when he tries to be silly, goofy, slapstick, unhinged, etc its just SUCKS. Its not in his wheelhouse. So this story comes across as nausea inducing and geared towards a 5 year old. The story is only marginally better. Both the author and narrator have MUCH better offerings. Ignore this series and go find their better works.

The first wing of the Red Cathedral has been conquered, and the next phase of the Possibility King’s invasion is officially on. Strange towers have arrived all across EBO, bringing with them fragments of new and dangerous realities. Some will threaten the Onyx Delta, others will offer new opportunities, and one tower in particular will awaken something in Frank that really should have remained dormant.

Historia
After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. Jim has been given an opportunity, and he'll do his best to take advantage of it.

A goofy good story that's intentionally silly.
Revisado: 04-13-23
Every now and then I need a silly book. This one does that well. Jokes, tropes, cliches, pop culture refs all over the place. If you loosen up and let yourself laugh at and with the story it's well worth your time.
If you are expecting a literary masterpiece, move on.
The biggest complaint I have with the books is with the narrator. He whispers too damn much and depending on what you are listening with you end up missing a lot of words. Oh and he isn't consistent with the badgers voice. I hate that.
Other that that Ive enjoyed all the books.

Meh. It's okay but nothing amazing.
Revisado: 04-13-23
I have nothing against cussing as long as it adds to the story. The amount of F-bombs tossed around rarely serve a purpose or add to the moment. The MC is an ok concept but the constant laughing and happy go lucky attitude don't fit the atmosphere for me.
For some reason I like that the author didn't feel the need to over explain or create some weak method of introducing the MC into the new world. She just showed up and went about her business.
The level of beginner luck and obscene OP boost at the start is a bit much but you gotta get the ball rolling somehow.
Overall its an ok story. The book length makes up for some of the authors lack of skill if you just need something to listen too.

Historia
You are no one. Level zero. Empty of mind and memory. Even your past has been stripped from your brain by the inscrutable System. A long, difficult road lies between you and remembering any part of who you are. A road punctuated with one death after another. You are too puny to survive by might alone. Information is the single resource that might keep you alive, but the brainless “digis” have none of it. Only those with experience can give you what you need, but most care nothing about you or your plight. In fact, some make it their mission to kill you.

I have never encountered a MC that was so worthless. The only kudo I can give the author is in creating a MC that made me refund a book for the first time. There is only so much stupidity, selfishness, and arrogance I can take in every paragraph. What a waste of time and money.
