Historia
Justice in Plain Sight is the story of a hometown newspaper in Riverside, California, that set out to do its job: tell readers about shocking crimes in their own backyard. But when judges slammed the courtroom door on the public, including the press, it became impossible to tell the whole story. Pinning its hopes on business lawyer Jim Ward, whom Press-Enterprise editor Tim Hays had come to know and trust, the newspaper took two cases to the US Supreme Court in the 1980s. Hays was convinced that the public - including the press - needed to bear witness to justice....

Narration Undermines Story
Revisado: 06-08-22
Sample this book before you buy it. The story is wonderful but the narrator has a squeaky-ish voice I found less than appealing. Did not finish book. I’ve liked narrators other reviewers dished so you might like it.

This writer needs a better editor. Wow someone ought to tell him he’s no Mark Twain. He is not getting paid by the word. Half of what he wrote would be a great book. Did not finish. Narration is great.

Creative side stories, amazing narration, and written well to a point. Why does SK have to drag out his stories? He should be over that by now. How old and how many books? Had he ended it earlier it would be at least a 4.5 His editor needs to get a backbone.

Historia
Jackie Speier was twenty-eight when she joined Congressman Leo Ryan’s delegation to rescue defectors from cult leader Jim Jones’s Peoples Temple in Jonestown, Guyana. Ryan was killed on the airstrip tarmac. Jackie was shot five times at point-blank range. While recovering from what would become one of the most harrowing tragedies in recent history, Jackie had to choose: Would she become a victim or a fighter? The choice to survive against unfathomable odds empowered her with a resolve to become a vocal proponent for human rights.

Historia
Jean McConville's abduction was one of the most notorious episodes of the vicious conflict known as The Troubles. Everyone in the neighborhood knew the I.R.A. was responsible. But in a climate of fear and paranoia, no one would speak of it. In 2003, five years after an accord brought an uneasy peace to Northern Ireland, a set of human bones was discovered on a beach. McConville's children knew it was their mother when they were told a blue safety pin was attached to the dress--with so many kids, she had always kept it handy for diapers or ripped clothes.

Passion Driven Story. Tell Us More!
Revisado: 09-14-20
This writer was moved by the senseless and cruel murder of a humble mother of 10 by the IRA.
The good guys, right?
Soon he found a bigger question. What were the value of all the incredible sacrifices made by the young people in the Provo IRA?
I hope he finishes his work by telling the Ulster side of things. The official monsters are bound to have a Jean McConville story of their own that should be told.

Excellent Suspense Story & Entertaining
Revisado: 07-01-19
This is not just an entertaining thriller, it's a great story!
You will relate to the characters and the timely life topics.
Freeman masterfully leads readers right into the center of the mystery and into the mind of Shelby Lake, a three-dimensional cop. She is imperfect with a sense of humanity and her curious nature makes the story all the more intriguing.
I highly recommend this wonderful mystery!

Lucidly and beautifully written, Peace Is Every Step contains commentaries, meditations, personal anecdotes, and stories from Nhat Hanh's experiences as a peace activist, teacher, and community leader. It begins where the listener already is - in the kitchen, office, driving a car, walking - and shows how deep meditative presence is available now.

I like TNH but this book has about ten concepts told over and over and over by some guy who doesn’t know he’s in a coma trying to read a book out loud. Nay.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Gem story and narration.
Revisado: 03-08-19
It’s four and 3/4 stars all around. The story works. Entertaining, interesting and the narration is excellent. Character depth is well-balanced albeit the lead female was somewhat short on persona. The Writer sewed in a patchwork of cultures and that was refreshing. I see a literary work in this author’s future. He was only scratching the surface of his artistic ability with this book. Give him another decade or so and he will produce something for the ages.
