The Narrator. OY!
Revisado: 04-25-24
I enjoyed the story quite a bit. but there were times when I really struggled to stay focused due to the horrible attempts at accents. Why on earth choose an American narrator for a story whose primary characters are British? She'd have done better to just modulate her voice a little to differentiate the characters rather than the incredibly painful attempts at accents.

Historia
Ever since she was young, Julie Klam has been fascinated by the Morris sisters, cousins of her grandmother. According to family lore, early in the 20th century the sisters’ parents decided to move the family from Eastern Europe to Los Angeles so their father could become a movie director. On the way, their pregnant mother went into labor in St. Louis, where the baby was born and where their mother died.

Fantastic!!!
Revisado: 08-14-21
This fascinating story so closely resembles my own research into family lore vs fact. Jewish immigrants who settled in St Louis, estranged family members, artists, fiction, and a Synagogue with gold stars on a blue ceiling are all part of my family history. Thank you, Julie, for sharing your research and discoveries.

Historia
In winter, Brianna Concannon's bed-and-breakfast is a cold and empty place. And that's fine with Brianna. She enjoys the peace and quiet, even when icy winds howl at her window. This year, though, she's expecting an unusual guest: mystery writer Grayson Thane, from America. And sometimes a fire can be born in ice.

I always enjoy this book. I wish the narrator had read it first, And given more thought to the nuances of speech.

Historia
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.
