Not enough examples
Revisado: 01-19-23
Most of the book was well done, but at certain points items were not clarified such as when you mentioned “this is a coma splice” but then you did not give an example of a coma splice. This happened several times.

Absolutely engaging
Revisado: 04-20-19
I have never given a book a five star review, but then I have never listened to such an engaging story.
Ms. Glass has taken the women’s movement back into an ancient world and turned it into a magnificent, uplifting story. She creatively builds a world that is so repugnant and beautiful that you hang on every word.
Her characters are well crafted, both the villains and the heroes. I love to hate a good villain as they make the heroes seem more gallant. The female heroes are strong, yet compassionate. She weaves the story with lessons on the battle of the sexes where causing the listener to think oh I remember how that was or when that happened.
I am waiting desperately for the next book in the series. One more thing, I do not normally read sci-fi/fantasy, but this book has definitely made me think of reading more in this genre.

Historia
In the early 1900s, the playwright Galeazzo D’Ascanio lived for Celia Sands. She was his muse and the inspiration for his most stunning and original play. But the night before she was to take the stage, Celia disappeared. Now, decades later, Alessandro D’Ascanio is preparing to stage the first performance of his grandfather’s masterpiece. A promising young actress - who shares Celia Sands’ name, but not her blood - has agreed to star. She is instantly drawn to the mysteries surrounding the play - and to her compelling, compassionate employer. And even though she knows she should let the past go, in her dreams it comes back.

Charming story
Revisado: 10-17-15
I really enjoyed this story. I have read some reviews where listeners did not enjoy Carolyn Bonnyman as a narrator. I however love her voice. This is the second book I have listened to that was narrated by her and I feel she gave enhanced both of them. I am searching for other books narrated by her. As for the story itself I loved The characters I thought Dennis and Brian were amazing . Susanna did a great job with her settings. I could see Venice as I listened. Celia was very well written as she did behave like a 22-year-old placed in the situation that she was in. The relationship with her "fathers" it was a very good representation of the situation. I enjoyed all of the theater references, and just found the book absolutely charming. I have now listened to all but two of Susanna's books and so far have enjoyed everyone I am a fan

Revisado: 07-21-15
This was such a poignant story. Will and Clark were so like able . The story was well developed and the end broke my heart. I hope there is a sequel to this story. It deserves one . It has been a very long time since a story has touched me as much as this one.

Beautiful tale
Revisado: 04-11-15
I loved this book and Thea narrator. I will admit that at first, I struggled with the narrator. I stop listening and went to another book. But because I have recently become a fan of Susanna Kearsley, I thought I would give it another try and I am so happy that I did.
This story was a beautifully written, with well developed characters and a very good plot. You must pay attention as nearly every sentence is important to the story. It is a complex tale. After my first listen, I listened again the next day.
This story makes you wonder, it pulls at your heart. Carolyn Bonnyman actually turns out to be a very good choice to tell us this story. She does not narrated, she actually tells us a remarkable tale.
Now, I need to go buy another Kearsley novel. Mariana left me totally fulfilled, but wanting yet mor Kearsley.

One of the best...
Revisado: 03-23-15
What made the experience of listening to Written in My Own Heart's Blood the most enjoyable?
Davina Porter is a Gem. She breathes life into Diana's amazing characters. Her flawless performance portrays each character by bringing out their uniqueness. Her ability with accents is unparalleled. She moves from Scots, to French, to British, etc with ease and accuracy. Her ability to express feelings, emotions and situations so well with her voice is uncanny.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Written in My Own Heart's Blood?
There were two points of loss in this book, I don't want to give away the story, but Diana is such a talented writer that she created such strong characters of a small child and a pet that I was driven to tears.
Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Davina is always on point. I have listened to all of the Outlander books and have never been disappointed in her performances.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would have loved to have listened to this book in one sitting, but it's long and I had to go to work. I did take my lunch breaks in the car because I could not wait until the drive home to listen again.
Any additional comments?
MOBY tied up some loose ends, brought long hidden truths to light, tested relationshps and united love ones. It was so fulfilling that it made me hungry for the next installment. A word of advice, if you are. New to the Outlander series, start at the beginning. By the time you get to MOBY, these characters will be dear to you. You will laugh and cry your way through this book and on the last page, you will gasp and breakout with a big smile.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

Revisado: 03-22-15
I had no expectations about this book. I really not heard of it and did not know the Author, but I am very happy to have met him.
This book was well written and so enjoyable. It made me open my imagination, I loved how free that made me feel. The Letty character was wonderful as were the rest of Hemstead ladies. Every child who is having difficulty fitting in should have the Heamstedas in their lives.

Always an entertaining ride
Revisado: 03-14-15
The In Death books are not Great American fiction, but they are great American fiction. They are entertaining and rarely do I end up feeling let down.
The characters are fun and I love the way that Eve has grown. This particular story was interesting as the murders personally pulled Eve into the case. As always the ending was dramatic and fulfilling.
If you are looking for F. Scott Fitzgerald, this book is not for you, but if you want a book to just have fun with, I suggest you take this ride. It is an amusement park not the Getty.

Very interesting
Revisado: 03-11-15
This recording had multiple narrators , which worked very well for thus story.
The story kept me going, I found myself sitting in my driveway listening just a bit more each night.
The characters were well developed and I definitely had opinions about each one. I appreciate the ending, I found it very satisfying. The story was well written and I recommend it. In fact I am eager to read (listen to ) another book by this author.
