Great read
Revisado: 07-03-24
The beginning was slow and muddy to get going but once the story hit it's stride (about 20% of the way through) it took off. the concept is amazing. I cannot wait to hear the rest of the story and I think it ended at the perfect point. this will be a great series. also, the characters were insufferable at first BECAUSE of their circumstances. seeing their arc as the story is told is intoxicating. I cannot wait to read where the characters will end up.

Historia
Tsukiko, 38, works in an office and lives alone. One night, she happens to meet one of her former high school teachers, "Sensei", in a local bar. Tsukiko had only ever called him "Sensei" ("Teacher"). He is 30 years her senior, retired, and presumably a widower. Their relationship develops from a perfunctory acknowledgment of each other as they eat and drink alone at the bar, to a hesitant intimacy, which tilts awkwardly and poignantly into love.

Peaceful enjoyable lol into Japanese culture
Revisado: 06-28-24
The performance of this story by the narrator and the story itself are cozy and calming. It's not particularly romantic and even strange in some parts between the two characters. The narrator really made this wonderful to listen to despite the characters.

But with so many potential avenues of exploration, it can often seem daunting to try to understand it. Where does one even start?

Favorite McWhorter book
Revisado: 03-02-21
This is a fantastic analysis of language split into the alphabet. 26 pieces of information of Language in general coinciding with the 26 letters of the English alphabet. That is a very vague summary. This book is so much more than that. 10/10 would recommend and did not disappoint
