Historia
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol in attempts to overturn the presidential election. It was a betrayal of our Constitution, and one of the darkest days in recent history. Yet to former congressman Adam Kinzinger it was also the culmination of a cultural and political rupture he’d long seen coming. Constructive criticism from within the Republican Party was no longer enough. It was time to stand up, even if it meant betraying his own party.

Good restrospective. Concise- perhaps too concise
Revisado: 03-16-24
Should have had more detailed description of his work on the Subcommittee. The book was mostly over when that incredibly important part of the story began.

Battle Cry of Freedom vividly traces how a new nation was forged when a war both sides were sure would amount to little dragged for four years and cost more American lives than all other wars combined. Narrator Jonathan Davis powerful reading brings to life the many voices of the Civil War.

A masterpiece
Revisado: 10-22-23
It was a pleasure to experience this book on audio, many years after reading it soon after it came out. McPherson was able to miraculously tell a very complex story in a one volume format.
He uses great metaphors and provides needed context to really help the reader understand the events, so this is a book that is appropriate both for people who are unfamiliar with Civil War history, and for people who have read dozens or more Civil War books.
The voice artist mispronounces a couple of names (esp Rosecrans) and has a couple of other quirks, but he does a good job of changing tone and emphasis to keep the reader engaged.

Historia
Written by an admired leader of the Republican party, Rally Point: Five Tasks to Unite the Country and Revitalize the American Dream looks past the 2016 election, past the finger pointing and conventional political thinking, to focus on clear primary principles that conservatives must debate and defend to protect the future of America.

Good conclusions, more specifics needed
Revisado: 01-21-18
Congressman Gibson is an American hero. His policy recommendations are excellent, but more specifics are needed on how we can implement the reforms he calls for. I would also like to know what he plans to do, and what the ordinary citizen can and should do.

Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

Excellent audio performance and book
Revisado: 12-04-16
Narrator did a nice job keeping the pace and avoiding monotone. Excellent book; I had read it years ago and it was still fun to listen to.
