This was AWESOME!!!!!

It took me a couple a months to finish this story but it was worth it. The plot(s) were well woven without taking away from each other. Whether I was cooking, driving or resting, I was shouting exclamations at least every 10 minutes. My favorite part was the body. “Where would turn up next?” I wondered. lol! The main character’s development was realistic and would be relatable to anyone in the same position. The narrators did an excellent job! I am not Chinese Indonesian descent so I also appreciate taking the time to explain the historical and social connection in the family’s behavior and speech. Can’t wait to listen to sequel!

The Most Exciting Book Yet

This one had my jaw dropping at least five times! So much suspense in the middle and the end. I do wish there was a last meet up with Orla’s family near the end. Otherwise, Ms. Cates has done it again. The performance did not disappoint me either.

Love the Story...Voice Acting Not So Much (Reader)

As stated above I have read the book prior to listening to the book. I heard a sample and was pleased with the voicing of Lana and her family. I am currently listening to the book and I am a bit disappointed with some of the voice acting (i.e. Detective Trudeau). It may just be a matter of personal preference. However, some of the actors and actresses need to work on voice inflection to suit the attitude of certain scenes. Again, personal preference talking. Otherwise, it is a nice listen as you work (if you are into that) or just to past a lazy afternoon. For those wanting to know if the book is worth reading, it is. A nice "cozy" mystery. A nice balance of comedy, suspense, and slice of life. I hope my review helped. God bless!

Sooo Good!

There is so much action that I had to repeat some parts. So far this is my favorite. And Beka with a lover?! Ulala! Susan Dennaker delivers another awesome performance. I am looking forward to the conclusion in the third book.

Just as I remember and even better

I read this book in high school. So when I saw the audiobook I thought I would give it a chance. I was not disappointed The narrator does an excellent job of voicing the characters. I am especially impressed by the male voices! Overall this narration does not take away from my fond memories of reading the book. Will have to read the next to see if this keeps up.

Even Better than I Remembered

I read this book eight years. So, of course I had to listen to the audiobook. One word great! The characters came alive with the different voice actors. I also appreciate the work that went into the musical arrangements. I always wondered what the songs would sound like. Now I know! Will definitely keep this downloaded for repeated listening.

One Word: AWESOME!!

This was my first adult audio book experience. I found it more addicting than reading the book. I suppose this is props for the orator. Nice job. The story itself is aweosme. It is like a mix of Harry Potter and Narnia. I never could get into the book by reading it so I thought I would try listening to it. It worked.
