Historia
On a secluded bluff overlooking the ocean sits a Victorian house, lavender with gingerbread trim, a home that contains a century’s worth of secrets. By the time Jane Flanagan discovers the house as a teenager, it has long been abandoned. The place is an irresistible mystery to Jane. There are still clothes in the closets, marbles rolling across the floors, and dishes in the cupboards, even though no one has set foot there in decades. The house becomes a hideaway for Jane, a place to escape her volatile mother.

Scratching My Head
Revisado: 07-10-24
I am a huge J Courtney Sullivan fan, I’ve read most of her work. This one left me wondering what happened. It felt fragmented and was really hard to piece together. I’m going to consider this a one off and hope for better things in her future writings.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Amazing performance!
Revisado: 04-22-18
I have used Audible for over 10 years and listened to hundreds of books, this is the first review I've written. David Pittu's narration is amazing, the best I've ever heard. The story is long and the characters varied. David made the story come alive. I'd been trying to read this book for 3 years, I would make decent progress, and then put it down for 6 months. The Audible format made the book come alive and I finished it in about a week, so glad I did!
