Historia
Ignorant of civilization and cautioned against its evils, nineteen-year-old Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie, were raised in off-the-grid isolation in a primitive cabin in upstate New York. When the youngest grows gravely ill, their mother leaves with the child to get help from a nearby town. And they never return. As months pass, hope vanishes. Supplies are low. Livestock are dying.

This book kept my interest most of the time throughout. One negative is the protagonist Rosie, she could be a little "silly" at times and that got annoying. Overall this is an okay read that had a twisty little end!

Romance is not my normal choice of genres, but with the interesting summary, the 4.3 Audible rating, and the hype in my book club, this book piqued my interest. This book was very interesting and I was hooked from chapter one. I'm not a huge fan of detailed "sexy smut", and this book is loaded with it, but I was invested at this point, and couldn't stop listening. Also, this story contains some sensitive issues, so be aware. Credence is well written with great character development, and an unexpected ending.

This book kept my interest from the beginning. I read this book without reading the summary, it was a recommendation by a friend. It is definitely not my normal genre, but it was a 5 star read for me. This book is thought-provoking and touches on subjects that are out of the norm. Some readers may view the story line very negatively, but I went in with an open mind. This book is very well written, emotionally gripping, and pulls at your heart strings. A recommended read.

Revisado: 12-08-24
This book focuses on Andrew and his pursuit of finding his abducted little girl. Andrew takes matters into his own hands, and he uses "torture" to get information, and these scenes are very detailed and descriptive. This is a very graphic and dark read. This story is about sex trafficking, violent pedophilia, snuff videos, and the brutalization of children. Chapter five is extremely disturbing, it depicts a brutal act on a child. A majority of this book, the heinous acts are implied, and not actually described. Another disturbing part is the blackmailing of a young girl and she ends up committing suicide. This book definitely has trigger warnings ⚠️
The narration of this book was very robotic, flat, and void of any emotion. . . It ruined the audible version, in my opinion. The voice of the detective on the case was absolutely ridiculous.
As dark as this book is, it definitely depicts real life matters, and will make you more vigilant of your surroundings and the whereabouts of your children! These sick individuals live amongst us!
Kudos to Jon Athan for bringing light and awareness to such a dark subject!!

A decent "who done it", a good ending, but not an edge of your seat page turner. The narration, in my opinion, was hard for me to follow, and the "sound effects" did not add anything to the story. The narrator sounded robotic at times and his accent was thick.

4 ⭐️ read. The story kept my attention and I had no idea where this story was going. I've only read a few of Hurst's books, but I will definitely be reading more. The narration was good, but if you have misophonia you may not enjoy the male narration due to sounds of swallowing and deep breaths.
