This isn’t going to make my recommendations list when someone asks me for a good read however I would recommend as an ok beach read! It is not a very complicated book however i still
Don’t quite understand the connection and why the disappearance of main character .. i guess it wasn’t interesting enough to reread to
Make sure I understood-

The story was interesting a bit predictable but the author did a good job connecting you to the characters and painting the sences for us woth her words. I have to be honest, I started the book and stopped several times because the lead make character voice was so off putting , odd and monotone. I thought maybe she was trying to develop him into a character that was maybe on the spectrum which would have made sense, having a family member who is he doesn’t have much emotion in his voice this character words were playful and romantic but were robotic. I also had to play it at speed 1.0( I usually listen at 1.2 or 3 ) to understand and get the rhythm. Even so , i one I got 1/2 into the book and couldn’t wait to get back to listening. I recommend but stick with it ! Its worth it

I purchased this book thinking it was an older book of Leane Moriarty .. I bet I am not the first to confuse them. I love Leanne’s books and this is every bit a good as hers. Laura does an excellent job of developing the characters. Its a rare author who makes me think about the characters when I am not reading. I can put myself right in the scene she writes about. This was narrated beautifully at first I didn’t think I would like the narration to be in a young girls voice but i cant imagine it amy other way. I was sad I was finished.. I wish it went on and on!
I am so happy I found this book. Going to purchase another from her now

This book was very well done. The only reason I couldn’t give RF 5 stars for his performance is because I couldn’t get over him trying to impersonate the women he writes about. It shocked me at first, I thought he was mocking Rose McGowen (whom is the first voice he mimics). Until I got into the book and felt that RF truly had respect for the survivors and was fighting to get their voices heard. know that going in and I think it will be more tolerable. I actually give him 4.5 stars, he definitely gets some acting chops from his mother he nails the accents.
This book his an ugly look at the power that men have been given that allows them to do whatever they want and those who cover for them: I really appreciate Ronan writing it was enough about him and his feelings but not so much that he took the spotlight away from the women who came forward and those that didn’t because they were ashamed or terrified or both. I hope women and men everywhere feels a little gratification that the patriarchy can be smashed and we are now in a place where people are starting to #BelieveWomem.
Thank you Ronan Farrow for never giving up.

This book should be required reading in high school! I felt honored to have it read to me by the author himself. I am a huge fan of his writing. I think this might be his most poignant book. As a white middle age woman with two children, who lives in a world full of white privilege. I know the privilege is everywhere and sometimes as a white family we forget to recognize it and go on living our lives believing we deserve this cause we "worked for it" and do not acknowledge that the color of our skin gave us an advantage, So to have such an intimate view of a father, who loves his son so much, that he has to teach him the world is not fair no matter what they tell you. Institutional racism is at the core of our country and the hard truth about how far we still have to go to truly be a country of equality is written here and between the lines.. I wish people would read this, especially those who think there is no such thing as "white privilege" in today's society. Thank you Ta-Nehisi Coates for sharing this with the world.

I listened to this book on audible. I am sure it would have been a different experience if I would have read it, I think I would have given it a higher rating. The narrator was almost panicky telling the story, which did fit with the characters story lines , but it annoyed me a little. Amanda Eyre Ward must have been a food writer at some point her descriptions of the food where so real it made me hungry, She also did a great job of creating a vision of the Mediterranean with her words and described the feeling of a cruise ship experience so well… It brought me right back to my trip to the Mediterranean. The story line about a dysfunctional family and traveling together was relatable. I found myself liking and hating the main character, Charlotte. By the end you will be cheering for her happy ending, The plot involves a romance novel and some of the writing is a bit too much like a cheesy romance novel for my liking but it made sense to include it, However I don't read "steamy" romance novels on purpose so it got to be a bit much and I fast forwarded through those parts.
